Workgroup Manager on 10.5.1 client23 Nov 2007 21:38 GMT4
I downloaded the 10.5 server admin tools from Apple.  Workgroup Manager
worked in 10.5.0 but it crashes in 10.5.1.  Can anyone else get it
working under 10.5.1 client (not Server)?
MacBook 10.4.11 restarts when closing lid23 Nov 2007 19:22 GMT2
I noticed this on two different MacBooks after the 10.4.11 update.
Instead of sleeping, the computer shuts down and the next time I open
the lid, it restarts by itself.
I called Applecare and they said to uncheck the "Put hard disk to sleep

New iMac Question23 Nov 2007 08:59 GMT3
It's been a long time since I've posted on this group.  My 5 year old
1GHz PowerBook is on its last legs and I plan on getting an iMac in
the next few days.  Can recent model iMac owners comment on their
machines?  My main concern regards the screen size.  If you were
I hate Olympus DSS Player Lite23 Nov 2007 07:32 GMT4
My God, what a terrible program. And I can't even export a file to
AIFF -- the conversion seems to reach an end, then it just hangs up.
Please tell me there is an alternative DSS program out there somewhere.

I have a 500GB harddrive split into 2 partitions.  a 350GB HFS+

harddrive to be Time Machine's backup drive.
I started the initial backup and came back only to find that the 150GB

hard drive making a racket after boot?23 Nov 2007 02:18 GMT10
I have a pretty loud hard drive and it is making a racket for about two
minutes after the OS has completely loaded and the user interface is
usable. Do you have any suggestions for what to check? (I'm on 10.2 so
it's not spotlight).

Is There a decent Services Menu Manager?22 Nov 2007 20:59 GMT9
Can someone recommend a Services Menu manager that works with Leopard?
I have a few things I'd like to remove like the Chinese text converter
for instance.  I can't seem to find a way to get things off that menu.

Time Machine + Timbuktu, neat combination22 Nov 2007 20:36 GMT17
Nothing so frustrating as being on the road with your MacBook, needing
some obscure file back on your desktop Mac.
Perhaps you actually deleted that file on your home Mac, not realizing
how important it would become later.
Firewall configuration?22 Nov 2007 19:25 GMT3
Does anyone know where Leopard's firewall configuration is stored?
I'd like to wipe the configuration out and rebuild it. (I know I can
just remove everything in the list, but I don't know that I trust that
