Should I upgrade to Leopard ?26 Nov 2007 05:18 GMT12
Just got a new macbook, that arrived with OS X 10.4 in stalled. It
also came with the disk for Leopard.
With all the various issues with Leopard is it worth it to upgrade
now, or should I wait ?
Cannot select MacSOUP as my email client after running Apple Mail.26 Nov 2007 05:07 GMT7
I'm running 10.5.1 on a new 24" iMac. After trying out Apple's Mail I
can no longer select MacSOUP as my default email client. It just goes
back to Mail no matter what method I use to try and set MacSOUP as my
preferred email client :-( I am so sick of the problems I'm having with

I need to hook to a device that has a DB9M connector
to upload a firmware update to it.
Has anyone used a USB <> RS232 adapter that works
w/OS X 4. or 5. that functions without problems.
Sending a Force Quit via Leopard's Screen Sharing26 Nov 2007 00:17 GMT5
Anybody know how to send a option-command-escape keystroke to the
remote Mac while using Screen Sharing?  I don't see anything in the
menus, and I can't always get to the Apple menu on the remote machine
(for instance, VLC was in full-screen mode and was not responding).
Batch files25 Nov 2007 22:52 GMT7
Part 1.
I have a batch file that I use to back up files from my Windows
machine to my wife's Mac.   I expected the following command to only
copy files that are newer on the Windows machine:
Disk Usage25 Nov 2007 20:46 GMT10
Does anyone know if there is any utility available for Leopard which
will show *which* processes are triggering disk usage?
I've noticed my drive periodically starts thrashing around (which I
doubt is good for it in the long run), but I can't figure out what is

little as 5 years...!!!

iMac upgraded to leopard can't boot from cd/firewire or access Single     user mode25 Nov 2007 16:49 GMT3
A friend of mine has just upgraded to leopard (from DVD). During this
operation 10.5.1 changed his admin password. I tried to help him with
some guide I found on the net BUT I found out that his iMac (Intel):
- can't boot from DVD anymore
Disk Icons on Desktop25 Nov 2007 15:43 GMT3
Since upgrading to 10.5, I've noticed differences between my PowerBook
and Quicksilver.  While the PowerBook's disk icons look the same as
before, those on the Quicksilver now have the disk size and remaining
capacity listed below them.  I haven't found any reference to this nor
remoting into Macs from Windows25 Nov 2007 14:54 GMT8
Microsoft makes Remote Desktop, and this can be used to connect to
Windows machines remotely from Windows machines. There is also a
version which can be used to connect from a Mac to a Windows machine
remotely.
Toast Problem with OS 10.525 Nov 2007 14:53 GMT6
Anyone having trouble with Toast?  It starts up ok but ever since I
upgraded to OS 10.5 it keeps crashing as soon as I drag & drop any
files from the Finder.
Running Toast 8.0.3 - latest version I believe.  Intel 20" iMac.
apcupsd screwed up energy saver prefs?25 Nov 2007 13:32 GMT7
I stupidly installed this: http://www.apcupsd.org/ because it was
recommended as a more advanced way to control my ups unit. The site says
it's okay for OSX. After I installed it, I got a message that indicated
that it needed some adjustments that sounded like nerd/geek talk to ...
Apple's creaky old file system and Time Machine25 Nov 2007 09:22 GMT22
Time Machine is great, I am very impressed with it.
TM is fighting an uphill battle though, dealing with
the underlying HFS++
I call it HFS++ because it is slightly different than
New iMac Question25 Nov 2007 03:46 GMT14
It's been a long time since I've posted on this group.  My 5 year old
1GHz PowerBook is on its last legs and I plan on getting an iMac in
the next few days.  Can recent model iMac owners comment on their
machines?  My main concern regards the screen size.  If you were
