Long file/folder names?04 Nov 2007 04:38 GMT34
In Tiger (10.4.10), I can have files, folders & aliases on the desktop

In Leopard, items in Finder WINDOWS will display this many characters,
but the same item transferred to the desktop will only display 6

The midrange Macbook Pro is listed as 2.4GHz. On Craiglist I see for
sale a lot of 2.33G machines. I can't seem to figure out if this is an
older model of Macbook Pro, or if this is the same as the 2.4 model, and
the 2.33 is the actual megahertz, and the 2.4 is a marketing number ...

So I installed Leopard tonight on my new Mac Pro, Tiger was installed on

account I went back in to Advanced Options and changed the home
directory for that user from /Users/ethant to /Volumes/Home/ethant.  I'd

Airport Express - listen while surfing?03 Nov 2007 21:49 GMT3
I'm using an Airport Express with a Buffalo Wireless Router (AirStation
54g) and my 12" G4 PB. I can listen to iTunes on my stereo via AE just
fine, and/or surf the net. I cannot however listen to my iTunes on the
stereo WHILE surfing on the net, as it requires me to switch my ...

This is from Intego's web site.
Does typing one's password in an installer dialog really give the trojan
"full root privileges", or is that simply hype from Intego?
Besides, no Mac user would ever be browsing porn sites, would he?

Leopard's Firewall03 Nov 2007 14:39 GMT21
Finally got Leopard installed this evening.  Straight upgrade install,
must've taken around 70 - 80 minutes or so.  Fantastic so far and I'd
guess a slight performance improvement.  Very happy that features like
