| misc leopard X11 issues | 05 Nov 2007 02:57 GMT | 13 |
Full-screen mode doesn't seem to work at all. Neither the "Toggle Full Screen" menu item nor the "Full screen mode" checkbox in the Output preferences have any effect. Is this working for anyone else? If I launch an xterm from the "Applications" menu it pays no attention

| Leopard - is it worth it for casual use? | 05 Nov 2007 01:16 GMT | 15 |
My second-hand Mac is only my 3rd/4th machine and has an 800MHz processor. It is (I think) a Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver 2002). Would it be reasonable/possible to upgrade the machine to be able to take Leopard - and is it worth bothering for the difference?

| MT Newswatcher on Leopard | 04 Nov 2007 19:27 GMT | 18 |
Anyone else experiencing intermittent but complete lock-ups after posting? I'm assuming Leopard is a factor here, since I don't remember it doing anything like this on Tiger. But I did take a few months off Usenet...

| How to troubleshoot a suddenly slow MacBook? | 04 Nov 2007 18:14 GMT | 9 |
About 3 days ago my MacBook suddenly became a DOG. It's slow at *everything*. Pulldown menus waiting a good second before appearing... Applications take forever to start... ssh connections take forever to get established... The Spinning Beachball of Death is everpresent...

| Internet Connection Sharing Question | 04 Nov 2007 16:27 GMT | 2 |
I'll soon be the lucky owner of two Macintosh computers - a MacBook Pro and a MacBook. I have a ADSL Modem, and I'd like to set up the computers to share an internet connection. I'm not very familiar with MacOS X (my last Mac ran MacOS 9) - I can see

| Tiger/Leopard dual book ok? | 04 Nov 2007 16:13 GMT | 4 |
I want to install Leopard on a second partition of my G5 so that I can play around with it; but until I upgrade my Photoshop 7 to CS3 and get comfortable with Leopard, I'll probably continue to use Tiger for my day to day work.

| now that NetInfo is gone, how do I... | 04 Nov 2007 12:06 GMT | 7 |
I never liked NetInfo but I've come to rely on it for three very specific things: creating new groups, setting explicit uids for user accounts, and specifying remote nfs automounts. Looks like I can do the third with Directory Utility, though I won't

| "Stacks" | 04 Nov 2007 05:36 GMT | 59 |
"Piles" Might be a Better Name "Stacks" are the worst idea I have ever seen in a GUI. The ability to place a folder in the Dock and right-click to see its contents in an easy-to-read, alphabetized list was powerful. I can no longer do that.
