Can I type a url (or folder path) to find something in the finder?08 Nov 2007 16:32 GMT8
I'm a fairly recent mac convert, and there's one windows explorer
feature that I'm having a hard time doing without.  Explorer can
expose a URL box, just like a browser.  If I want to get to a folder
(or network node) and I know the exact path, I can just type the url
Mighty Mouse Scroll Doesn't Work08 Nov 2007 15:44 GMT15
The little scroll wheel will scroll up, but it won't scroll down.
I use my laptop, so it's not a huge deal, but I don't want my wife to
wallow in inefficiency.
Any tips?

Anyone seen a Global Login Item yet? Apparently, they're new to Leopard,

Security08 Nov 2007 06:33 GMT3
If a password is set to log on, is a Master Password necessary.
What is the value of File Vault?
I'm trying to determine what features have a real value or can be
passed over. The temptation is to enable everything, perhaps needlessly.

Parallels or VM Fusion, and which Windows OS?08 Nov 2007 03:54 GMT4
I'll want to use Boot Camp to play Windows games, and run Windows
productivity apps using virtualisation.
So - which virtualisation program would be best suited for running on
one of the new 24" iMacs with a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo CPU and 2GB RAM, and
OS 908 Nov 2007 01:12 GMT2
Can anyone upload or direct me to a working copy of OS 9 that I can
install on an old iBook? Thanks!
file generation in Finder - how to defeat ??08 Nov 2007 00:09 GMT3
I'm a messy photographer that shoots RAW format most of the time.  I
unload my CM card into whatever computer is closest at that minute (PC,
G4, iMac, G3), then use an app to convert from RAW to JPG or TIF as
needed.  I have these CM card directories all over the place that

HP Laserjet 5P and System 7.507 Nov 2007 20:35 GMT3
Hi, got a new old used HP Laserjet 5P. Incredible what it can do with 2
MB and the PC. Seems to have the same 120 greyscales like the
Laserwriter IIg. Texts and pictures....
The machine has a localtalk connection. Is this connection useless
preview navigation07 Nov 2007 14:47 GMT11
On windows, when I double click on a jpg, it opens it in a preview
application. If I press the right arrow, it then shows the next picture
in the same folder.
On my mac, it opens a preview but I didn't find the way to navigate
Some more Leopard niceties07 Nov 2007 14:27 GMT4
Finder preferences now has an option for command-shift delete to empty
trash securely.
Finder preferences also now treats CDs, DVDs, and iPods separately from
external disks when showing on the desktop.  In previous versions if you
Mail Stopped Sending My Messages07 Nov 2007 11:26 GMT14
I use a G4 iMac running 10.4.10.  Yesterday, without warning, Mail
stopped sending my messages.  After I compose a message and then click
Send, Mail transfers the message to the OUTBOX, where it resides forever
(36 hours now).
How to publish my web site...07 Nov 2007 05:54 GMT17
I've got a directory on my MAC that I want to ftp to my web ISPs web
server,
I created the site with iWeb... I don't have a .Mac account to send it
to as my ISP provides me with space and a server.
Using Disk Utility to partition a disk without losing data07 Nov 2007 04:40 GMT6
I have a 500gig external USB hard drive. I don't want Time Machine to
fill up the drive to a point, where I cannot add files to t manually. So
I'd like to create a 200gig partition exclusively for Time Machine. I
know Disk Utility can partition an external hard drive, but from ...
