First, I have 3 straight days called Belkin to ask a general question.
I simply cannot (3 differant csr's) understand them. Nor do any of the
newsgroups seem to be what I'm looking for.
I'm waiting for Verizon to send their modem etc. In the meantime a

in sorting filenames into order

Please recommend an optical drive upgrade for G509 Nov 2007 16:44 GMT8
I have a 2004 powermac G5 2ghz dual and it's time to upgrade from my
stock 8X Apple (LG) optical drive. I've already tried MCE's superdrive
(LG, like my stock drive) because it was supposed to work natively in
Tiger and though it handled my Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD media just fine, it

any sources about them?
Thanks!

NAS with OSX Tiger - NFS or CIFS?09 Nov 2007 01:43 GMT2
I recently purchased a GigE capable NAS device for backups.  I am
considering making it my primary data storage device (everything other
than OS and application binaries) as it is significantly more quiet
than my OWC Mercury Elite Pro two-drive enclosure.  So, I have two

Any hope for a Classic mode?08 Nov 2007 23:11 GMT59
I really miss being able to run some old applications that are good enough.
Is there any chance that a third party can come up with a way of running
System 9 under Leopard?

Macists on a boat ride. Enjoy!08 Nov 2007 21:37 GMT19
Strange things happen these days. Before Macs were more expensive in
Canada because the canadien dollar was weak. Now, that it's at $1.07
US, Macs are still more expensive in Canada: Mac book, 1,249$ vs
1,099$; Mac Book Pro, 2 199$ vs 1 999$, etc. Apple says they have no

A problem with Leopard's dock?08 Nov 2007 18:19 GMT12
There have certainly been no shortage, here in these discussions, regarding
the three-dimensional dock shelf.
I finally figured out what bothered me and that is that the vanishing point
of the dock conflicts with the vanishing point of the background picture.
Eudora 6.2 beachballs and other Leopard issues08 Nov 2007 17:12 GMT21
Finally got my $109 Leopard from Amazon. So far, it's nothing I can use.
* Eudora 6.2 gets many spinning beachballs. It's virtually impossible to
use. Did Apple cripple non-Apple-Mail mail clients? Or is this related
to the spinning beachball issues with MT-Newswatcher?
