search doesn't work on x-serve/RAID12 Nov 2007 07:06 GMT2
Searching for file names via finder window input field doesn't work on
a RAID which is connected to our x-serve and accessed by a Mac running
10.4.10. The same files are found when searching via spotlight. Any
reason for this difference?
X11 Feature Idea12 Nov 2007 05:52 GMT4
Since Parallels can make Windows applications show up in the dock, it
should certainly be possible for X11 to make X11 apps show up in the
dock.  Where should I submit this?  The standard Apple bug list?  Is it
just something I'd want or would it have wider interest?
Time Machine -- Quirks & Recovering Deleted file?12 Nov 2007 05:08 GMT16
Summary:
- Time Machine keeps daily backups for a month. The one that's kept
for each day is at the time-of-day at which you first turned on Time
Machine. I had expected it would be the last backup before midnight.
iPod and Leopard12 Nov 2007 04:46 GMT3
Hey guys,
I filled up 60% of stroage on my iPod within 2 months! Is that normal?
What was your guys' rate like? Also, I have a 2 year old Mac. Should I
upgrade to Leopard now or wait?  Just wondering, if any of you

Leopard -- Safari erroneously reports "No Disk Space"12 Nov 2007 00:12 GMT4
After Leopard upgrade install... Most everything is going just fine...
But, Safari, on a regular visit to senderbase.org, trying to export a
list of IPs sending mail...  Safari erroneously reports, "Safari could
not download the file '217.159.146.36/16.txt' because there is not

The Sharing preference has many more options, choosing a folder to
share, permissions, etc.
Excellent.
Recycle iPod hard drive11 Nov 2007 23:28 GMT1
My iPod mini died painfully but the hard drive is still fine.  Does
anyone know if it is possible to convert it (somehow) into a cool
portable usb hard drive?  I really have no idea where to look.  I
guess I need to buy an IDE controller that has a USB connection on it
Leopard Finder windows, icon view, and grid spacing11 Nov 2007 23:11 GMT2
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but in Leopard, Finder
windows set to icon view now allow you to set the grid spacing.  I
hadn't noticed this until last night.
Tool for creation Autorun for MAC OS?11 Nov 2007 23:03 GMT3
I've searched in many groups but still can't find the answer. Search
on apple.com wasn't successful. The only thing I found that some
application like Toast allows you to indicate which file should be
automatically run. But my question is how to create that file that
G4 frozen during back-up to external drive11 Nov 2007 23:00 GMT1

My G4 has been playing up a bit lately and tonight it decided to do
some serious attention-seeking behaviour.
First it froze and went to sleep.Subsequent restarts got me to the
MacPro - partitioned disk - CCC backup - not enough space?11 Nov 2007 22:15 GMT3
I have to back up data from a MacPro that goes to service.
I had Seagate 750 GB disks, one of them partitioned in several
partitions. Now when I try to back up one of them (the others worked),

How to Use Filters in Thoth11 Nov 2007 20:07 GMT5
Someone is attacking one of my favorite USENET groups. The attacker is
easy to recognize because of a certain rare combination of letters in
his path -- let's say it's abcde. Nothing under "Path contains" seems
to filter out "abcde." What am I missing -- and what is a "regular
Password Requests: Too Frequent11 Nov 2007 16:20 GMT3
Under Leopard, Safari is constantly asking for my password: "Safari
wants to use the "login" keychain. Please enter the keychain password."
This isn't tied to any particular kind of web page -- it happens with
pages with no security whatsoever, e.g.

I'm using an iMac 24" Core 2 duo (white), OS 10.4.10, and
the software I'm having a problem with is Cubase LE 4.0.3.
I'm just wondering if anyone can offer any insight at all to
