Does anyone here know what "automatic update" means? I heard about 10.4.11 yesterday but didn't get around to "installing it" till tonight. When I opened Software Update, it said there was no new software for my Mac, and "About This Mac" said that I was already updated to 10.4 ...

OK, I said I tossed it and went back to Tiger. But I was getting itchy and took the dive again. BIG mistake! I backed up everything with Superduper so I felt I couldn't go wrong.
