Does anyone here know what "automatic update" means? I heard about
10.4.11 yesterday but didn't get around to "installing it" till tonight.
When I opened Software Update, it said there was no new software for my
Mac, and "About This Mac" said that I was already updated to 10.4 ...

I'm thinking of partitioning my external drive so I can install Leopard
on one partition, and boot from it when needed, and use the other
partition for Time Machine backups.
What's the minimum size for a partition that I can put Leopard on?

I just made the switch from windows to MAC Leopard.   I have become a

Rebuilding locate database:

I'm trying to transfer some individual files from my Power PC to my
Intel iMac using an external hard disc.  Problem is . . .  while this
disc drive used to mount with no problem on BOTH computers, lately it
will only appear on my Power PC....  I've re-initialized the disc to

OK, I said I tossed it and went back to Tiger. But I was getting itchy

I backed up everything with Superduper so I felt I couldn't go wrong.

Current setup: DSL router with integrated DHCP server, switch, Windows PC
without WLAN & MacBook both hooked up to the switch.
Idea: PC remains hooked up to the switch, AirPort Express also hooked up to

Took 1 hr and 40 minutes to backup 92 GB from my Leopard and Home drives
to another internal SATA drive.
