sorry for this silly question... but I couldn't find any solution. Well, as I can see apple address book doesn't permit to add a "display" name, is it right? I think it's a bad situation, 'cause sometimes I like to use

Time Machine has got stuck doing a new backup. I've looked through the console for messages but can't find any. Where else should I look? A general gripe: When Time Machine fails, it fails ugly. I hope 10.5.2 fixes this, because 10.5.1 doesn't seem to have.

I downloaded a .sit file, found stuffit to unpack it, but inside were a few .image files. From what I can tell these are Mac CD images?? Is this correct? How do I open them in windows to get the contents of the files?

I just got my first Mac a few days ago and I'm still learning my way around... could someone tell me how to end a process that is not responding on a Mac? In Windows I would use the task manager. I am running Leopard and this happens ALL THE TIME!

Has anyone tried Cocktail 2.0 with Leopard? I downloaded it, but whenever I run it, it displays a dialog with "Cocktail requires that you type an administrator's password." Nothing wrong with that; I'd expect this kind of application to do that.

OK I'm ordering an iMac tomorrow. MacMall offers a package with Parallels and either Vista Business or Vista Ultimate so I assume that it is OK touse Vista in Parallels (I need windows for work reasons).

I know some of the older model Macs had buried in their system inter face humorous sayings that you could bring up if you knew the code words to type in. Is there such also stil embedded in the G4 and G5's? If so what are they?

While the Vista kids wait for Service Pack 1 (zzzzzzz) . . . The first 'service pack', aka update, for Leopard is out: 10.5.1. But Leopard still has some maturing to go before all the quirks and bugs are worked out. It is also not yet feature set complete.

Hi Group, Just installed OS X 10.5 onto my MacBook. The new desktop has the Apple Menu shaded. I am finding this rather anonying to look at.
