Alternative Power supply?01 Nov 2007 00:20 GMT2
Hi folks, here's an oddball idea, I've a Powerbook Wallstreet with a
Dead battery, I'd like to use this at my shop but NOT plugged in as
too many imbeciles feel the need to walk behind you to see what yer
doing and trip over power cable which is definitely a heart stopper.

and its painfully slow going trying to work with this image.  What I'm
Textmate local docs and sysadmin31 Oct 2007 21:15 GMT3
I'd like to use texmate even when I don't have internet connection,
some bundles (for example php) get the docs from internet, and I can't
set a global variable to tell where the php's doc is.
I tried to modify the function but it doens't work for some reasons.
What replaces "Print center" in Leopard?31 Oct 2007 20:47 GMT4
One of the steps in the instructions for installing the driver for a
Brother MFC-7820N printer says "For Mac OS 1-.2.4 users, Open Print
Center icon".  However, with Leopard I can not find the the Print
Center icon.  Hence, my question is what replaces Print Center in
Creating a bootable Firewire disk - how many bootable partitions?31 Oct 2007 19:55 GMT6
I've installed 10.5 on my Mac Pro and am using an external Firewire
drive for Time Machine. It's working well but I see the usefulness of
making the drive bootable. Since I'm only a few days in, I may as well
do it now.

It didn't take me long to find a bug in Leopard31 Oct 2007 18:00 GMT21
1.  In mail.app, select text in a received message.
2.  Right click (or control-click) on the From address to display a
contextual menu.
3.  The selected text is unselected.
Leopard's Apple menu, no "Location" entry?31 Oct 2007 17:47 GMT8
Tiger versus Leopard's "Apple Menu"
"Location" in the Apple menu is totally missing in Leopard.
Is there any way to regain the same ease-of-use that Tiger had?
Namely, with practically one-click in Tiger, I could select between:
What happens wen the Time Machine Disk Drive is not available?31 Oct 2007 16:33 GMT5
Normally the Time Machine checks every hour to see what files have
changed in the last hour and then backs up the files that have
changed. But what happens if the Time Machine disk drive is not
available for several hours or even several days?  Can the Time
Boot Camp and Windows 98/XP31 Oct 2007 15:25 GMT6
New iMac on the way...
I gather an Intel Mac with Boot Camp will only support Windows XP or
Vista.  I have Windows 98 from my old PC (soon to be disposed of).  Is
there any reason I couldn't install Windows 98 on the new Mac and then
Uninstalling XP OS from Parallels31 Oct 2007 14:21 GMT1
I a total Mac virgin, but because I use an embroidery program which
only runs in windows, I bought Parallels.
I cannot use my USB floppy drive with the XP version I have (re used
but now without the SP2- it won't download but crashes the system).
So ...  PPC/Leopard/Sheepshaver anyone?31 Oct 2007 10:29 GMT3
I guess that about says it.   Can anyone verify that Sheepshaver works
under Leopard on a PPC machine?
(Can't find any posts here that say one way or the other.)

Speed31 Oct 2007 09:30 GMT29
I moved away from the Dark World two years ago and after six months of
purgatory with different Linux distros, I discovered OS X when I bought
my first mac, an original Mac mini.
I, immediately, fell in love with Tiger. It's everything Windoze has
Printer Setup Utility in Leopard31 Oct 2007 09:13 GMT2
I'm trying to help, remotely, a friend troubleshoot a new Leopard
installation. I have received a screen capture of the
Applications/Utilities directory. There is no Printer Setup Utility
there. In Printer Setup Utility not a part of a Leopard installation?
TimeMachine works - but initial transfers slower than CCC31 Oct 2007 08:51 GMT4
Having done backups before upgrading to Leopard with CarbonCopyCloner I
can report that TimeMachine (at least running first time) is much slower
copying files.
From a MBP to a FW800 connected 1TB Hitachi disk I get around 20 MB/s
