Problems I have found with OSX...
When it can't read a CD, it locks the system up until it gives up.
Spinning beach ball leaves you with no choice but to  hard reboot or

Serious problem with G5's cooling system?24 Sep 2007 03:48 GMT41
It's all over the place: within 2 years, G5's cooling system leaks,
then destroys the power supply, the CPU and the mobo and the computer
has to be replaced. When heated, the cooling liquid is apparently a
health hazard. It's all over the net.
iChat: DSL versus Cable speed?24 Sep 2007 01:55 GMT10
I've been doing video iChat with someone who has cable internet service.
The performance has been quite good, with fairly smooth video and not
much distortion or stuttering. The other party is thinking of switching
to DSL. Does anyone have any experience with the performance of ...

MS Word bulk formatting23 Sep 2007 20:53 GMT13
Is it possible to format several Word files with the same font and
font size?  Right now I highlight the open document, go to Fonts, then
do my thing.  But I need to do a lot of them and was wondering if I
can do them all together.  It would save a bundle of time.

Epson R380 vs. Canon Pixma MP47023 Sep 2007 12:01 GMT2
A few months ago I purchased an Epson Stylus Photo R380 printer which is
promoted as being excellent for printing photographs. No matter what settings
I've tried and what papers I've tried I have never been able to get the
printer to produce printouts that don't have streaks ...
Safari 3.03. (522.12.1) - hangs when downloading .pdf's23 Sep 2007 08:05 GMT3
I get rather consistent hangs whenever I try to download a .pdf file by
clicking a link to it.
I get the spinning beach ball, the download window shows starting
transfer (but never actually seems to get any data), and the process
Can't get MacBook Pro to boot from ANYTHING.22 Sep 2007 20:12 GMT17
My MacBook Pro (it's about a year old) with the latest OS X updates
won't boot. On its own, it doesn't seem to find a boot disk, and I get
the frantic apple/crossed-circle/question mark rotation on-screen.
Same if I try to boot from any supposedly bootable disk -- the 10.4.8
Problem with burn folders22 Sep 2007 19:46 GMT2
Sometimes when I want to burn a DVD using a burn folder, I can't do it
because the cumulative size of the files shows up as greater than the
4.37 GB that can fit on a single-layer DVD.
However, when I add up the sizes of the individual files, the total is

I had the chance to try IBM's Lotus Symphony on Microsoft Windows

slick UI and seems highly compatible with the other major

System has suddenly slowed down to a crawl22 Sep 2007 17:22 GMT7
I have a Mac G4 DP (Mirror Door) 867 running OS 10.4.10.
Suddenly as of mid-morning every action my Mac is like molasses, bringing up
the multicolor pinwheel. Even typing this message causes the text to lag and
the pinwheel to appear.
