IPod Question06 Sep 2007 14:24 GMT6
Hey All,
Hopefully this is the right place.  I just bought an 80GB Ipod.  I
love it.  However, I have about 8,000 songs on my old player, which is
a Nomad Jukebox.   I do not have these songs on my hard drive.  My
A funny thing happened when I backed up my HD06 Sep 2007 10:34 GMT27
Okay, G5 Dual backing up a second installed drive with Silverkeeper.
I erased my second drive today because I wanted to make a new bootable
backup (my usual procedure).  When I got done, I opened the backed up
drive and it had the following additional 9 files/folders added to the

ichat in LAN06 Sep 2007 02:25 GMT2
None of our ichat v3.1.8 clients can connect.   My question is, does ichat
need to go outside our lan(thus thru our firewall) to connect? even if all
clients are internal?   The Mac firewall was off  when we tested- it just
times out after 1 minute and reports 'cant connect'
iPod Touch 802.11n06 Sep 2007 02:10 GMT4
I see that the iPod Touch has 802.11b & g. Where's the 11n? Steve sold
me two Macs and an Apple TV with 11n and two AirPort Extreme Base
Stations to feed them. I wonder if this is a hardware thing, or if,
like my two Macs, a software update will enable 802.11n.
Problems with installation of the OS05 Sep 2007 22:15 GMT2
A couple of weeks ago I was given a G4 AGP model without a hard drive.
I bought one and installed it. Then, on my PC I burned the .dmg image
of the 9.2 system using MagicISO. Now when I switch the Mac on I'm
just getting a grey screen with blinking icon in the middle with a
The new iPod Touch: What Apps does it come with?05 Sep 2007 22:10 GMT1
I know it promises Safari browsing, and the onscreen image shows a
calendar and contacts icon: anyone know if these are dynamic (allowing
data entry/editing from the device?), or if they simply display data
enetered on the Mac?

For the "new" $125 buck service pack called "Leotard".

Word busted on MacBookPro05 Sep 2007 16:24 GMT13
Some Word files recently sent will not open without the dialogue that
asks you to choose a whether the file is text, rich text, MS-DOS, html,
etc., and then it translates into gibberish. The same files open just
fine on my G-5. These files were created on a collegue's Mac in ...

I have two routers at home.
My main router is new and I use it to connect my two computers and
laptop to the web.
However, I have a bunch of older wireless webcams for home security
A switcher with some questions about Mac hardware issues.05 Sep 2007 13:01 GMT2
I visited my local Apple Store recently and the lady called me a
"Switcher." I'm currently using a Windows PC but seriously considering
a Macintosh rather than moving to Windows Vista.
I've been doing some research on the MacBook Pro and most of the
LaCie disks -- opinions?05 Sep 2007 12:49 GMT55
We've just had our second LaCie 1TB drive fail in as many months.
This is unsettling.  I could understand one drive with a problem
but I am now beginning to feel that there are some problems with
all of these drives.
How fast windows applications run under parallels?05 Sep 2007 03:14 GMT8
Hi
I am planning to purchase an imac core2 with 2GB RAM. I need to swithch to
some windows applications using parallels (preferably) or Bootcamp. I will
be using roughly 50% MACOS and 50% WinOS. I am wondering what the speed of
iBook screen is dark blue -- no desktop image, etc.05 Sep 2007 01:48 GMT8
The screen on my 12" iBook G4 died, and I bought a used one off eBay
and installed it tonight. Not just the screen but the whole lid of the
computer. It worked fine for about 20 minutes. That's when I noticed
that one of the two largish screws on the underside of the machine
