Hi I'm looking for a port knocking client for os x 10.4x.
I already know about Darwinports and fwknop but I am looking for a
client to knock for access using a traditional port knocker like Knock
for windows (if anyone has heard of that). Thanks
How often is an NTP server accessed?08 Sep 2007 04:44 GMT9
I have been using network time servers to keep my Mac's clock set for
years -- even before the OS supported NTP, and a third-party app was
required. Of course, I have set up the Time control panel of OS X to use
a time server. Now, I don't shut down my MacBook, and only reboot it ...
g5 in basement, monitor and keyboard upstairs?08 Sep 2007 03:57 GMT4
I'm kind of sound sensitive. I don't like having my G5 in my office.
It's kind of quite, and I've controlled the nap so that it doesn't
make that awful
electric buzz and set my power options to further quite it, but I
Blast from the past08 Sep 2007 01:11 GMT18
I was just looking for something in my folder of saved c.s.m.s
posts and I came across a three year old one by Mark Conrad in
response to my helping him to disabuse himself of some wild
misconceptions he held about disk partitioning on the Mac. Not

on my iPod (for long bus rides) but they are streaming realplayer files - is
there a way to record them on my Mac?
Hiding acct from login screen07 Sep 2007 17:03 GMT8
Running iMac G5, OS X 10.0.4
Is there a way to hide a single account from the user login screen?
My interest is just cosemetic. My family is four folks, each with an

curl URL globbing07 Sep 2007 16:51 GMT9
I'm creating a folder action so that when our editors drop some Targa
files into the folder the files get FTPd to our 4 on-air graphics
devices.  And I'm trying to do it with just the tools included with OS X.
I'm running into one shortcoming of curl which I have a workaround for
Can the iPod touch read and write dot.mac mail?07 Sep 2007 16:14 GMT1
The just introduced iPod touch can communicate via WiFi and can run a version
of Safai. The iPod touch includes a keyboard interface. But missing from any
information I've been able to find is whether or not the iPod touch can both
read and write dot.mac mail via the Safari ...
open URL07 Sep 2007 13:53 GMT2
The recent discussion in another thread about how to write URLs in
Usenet posts prompted me to set up URL handling in my Usenet client.
As someone pointed out, in slrn you only need to hit "U" while reading
a message and you will be presented with a menu of all URLs in the

Anyone else having this problem?
Anyone have a fix?
Twelve Proofs that Muhammad is a True Prophet06 Sep 2007 21:40 GMT5
My brothers and sisters everywhere! With this essay, I am not singling
out the adherents of Islam - to which I ascribe - but rather I am
writing this essay to every man and woman throughout the whole world.
I ask Allah that He facilitates tat this essay reaches every ear,

Now that i've decided on a 20" iMac, and will await to buy when Leopard
is installed (Oct?), i need something to put it on.
Has to be on wheels or casters (vinyl flooring) but nothing extravagant
as a Medical cart ($$$).
podcast sync and streaming media on the new iPod Touch?06 Sep 2007 21:00 GMT1
A couple questions about the wifi-capable iPod:
1)  Will the Safari browser on that device play streaming audio/video
in RealPlayer, Windows Media and Flash formats?
2)  Will it be possible to update your podcasts via the iPod's wifi,
