Price lists: tough on my nerves!11 Sep 2007 01:07 GMT6
In thread "Cut on the Apple tax: is it enough?", I wrote:

How to reset a password?11 Sep 2007 00:58 GMT15
I have 2 discarded old macs, an iMac running OS9.1 and a G3 running
10.x.  The G3 takes a whole day to boot while the iMac takes a few
minutes.  My problem is that after trying to add new users then
deleting them I cannot log in again since I never had the original

pismo powerbook hangs10 Sep 2007 23:08 GMT5
Here's an odd one:
I have a 400 mhz pismo powerbook in very good condition. It runs like
a top with an external hard drive, but it hangs at startup with an
internal (any internal, I've tried several, all pulled from various
Mac Login Monitoring - How to figure out who has logged into a mac, remotely10 Sep 2007 19:48 GMT3
Was wondering if anyone might know the answer to this.
In the windows world you can look at event viewer to see logins and
such on a machine which will also give you date and time stamps. You
can also look at the user profiles on the machine on the C drive to
Netgear router won't configure with mac10 Sep 2007 18:00 GMT6
I just bought a Netgear DG834G router , whilst I can configure it via
its web interface from an XP machine, it rejects the password when I try
to log on to the web interface from a Mac.  I've tried 3 different macs
(all 10.4.8) with Safari and Firefox on each.  Each time I enter ...
Recap of: Bozos visit to the Zara store10 Sep 2007 15:38 GMT37
He was told to be there between eleven and twelve.
He came in at 11.07 followed by mall security, snapped two "hidden camera"
photos and left one minute later. The pictures show exactly that.
He never identified himself.  He never spoke to anyone.

The Computer War - Mac vs. PC10 Sep 2007 13:33 GMT1
I remember my very fist computer. I was twelve years old. The computer
was a Wang 386 PC. I was amazed at the fact that you could put a cd in
it and view pictures and information. Back then you put the CD-ROMs in
a square holder, and inserted that into the computer.
Why Wake Up on USB Activity?10 Sep 2007 06:38 GMT6
One thing I've never understood is why Macs wake up from sleep on USB
activity.  Why is that?
That seems to complicate things for no useful reason.  Is there any way
to turn off that feature, and only wake up when I open the lid (on a

I'm throwing a BBQ next Sunday 9/16/07 at 1:PM, at my home. If you come, try
not to look like the homeless bum in need of a bath looking to lift
something, as you did when you visited the store. (BTW: that's why security
followed you in)
Synchronizing data with Windows machine09 Sep 2007 18:12 GMT9
My home network still has a Windows machine - it's my iTunes home
until I have saved up enough to replace it with a Mac Pro.
I have a batch file that includes the following line:
xcopy "C:\Documents and Settings\brazee\My Documents\My Music\*.*"

I don't know if this is the correct NG for this Q, here goes. If I'm
