Strange Finder Crashes12 Sep 2007 03:18 GMT9
For a while now I have been plagued by strange finder crashes in OS
10.4.10; I suddenly get the red ball for no apparent reason, and I am
unable to relaunch the finder (Force Quit has no effect). I can still
run  other apps (as I'm doing now in Thoth with the red ball spinning
AirPort Extreme Base Station question12 Sep 2007 02:06 GMT2
I have an Intel iMac and two G4 Powerbooks. The iMac should be 802.11n
capable, but certainly not the G4s. The base station appears to operated
at either of two frequencies. If I choose the higher frequency, which is
less used (I live in an apartment building), I think my iMac ...

and accessing help for the Server Admin tools.
How do I get my Mac to connect seamlessly to the online help files like
usual?  I rarely use Help, what other help section would check the online

I think I met Zara at his store the other day11 Sep 2007 22:01 GMT67
We were down in Palm Beach Florida Monday and went to a mall, and we saw a
Zara store next to a Apple store. So we went in and I told the girl there I
was from csma and csms and if I could get a free gift card and she said wait
and went in the back and a gentleman came out and ...
Apple blew this one, I think11 Sep 2007 21:53 GMT73
Jobs just announced that the next revision of iTunes (to be released
later today) will allow you to make a ring tone from any music in
iTunes.  But it will cost you 99 cents to do so; this is on top of
whatever you spent for the track that you're going to make the ring tone
Forgotten password - no OS X CD11 Sep 2007 20:00 GMT16
A friend with a G3/500 mHz iMac (OS X 10.4.7) asked me to help her
install the software for her new Hewlett Packard all-in-one
printer/scanner/copier. The installer asked for her password.
She's forgotten it. She is the sole (admin) user.

How to kill filter the "In article" field in Free Agent11 Sep 2007 11:59 GMT7
I am running Free Agent 4.2 and I cannot discover in the documentation
how I can kill filter based on the "In article" field.  I would like
to kill any "answering" messages that contain certain names in the
"In article" field.  I have already killed all original messages from
Whoops, I Emptied the Trash11 Sep 2007 08:15 GMT116
Today I was requested to update the system software on another person's iMac.
After I completed the update I emptied the trash. As the trash completed its
emptying the other person literally screamed in horror as they had some 7,500
files in there, a great many of which they ...
The Computer War - Mac vs. PC11 Sep 2007 05:07 GMT42
I remember my very fist computer. I was twelve years old. The computer
was a Wang 386 PC. I was amazed at the fact that you could put a cd in
it and view pictures and information. Back then you put the CD-ROMs in
a square holder, and inserted that into the computer.
Assistance with Movie translation11 Sep 2007 01:43 GMT2
I have a MAC (10.4.10).  For some time, I've unsuccessfully
tried to proceed from movies (downloaded as rar files) into
something that Toast can burn onto DVD.  Simply can't do it.
Toast (8.0.1 Titanium) is great at burning wmv files to DVD
