bootcamp install problem21 Jul 2007 21:26 GMT11
Help! My teenage son decided to try and install Bootcamp on my iMac
while I was at work. He didn't have the Windows Service Pack 2 CD and
the install failed. Now I can't startup my iMac except from the
install CD.
Resetting Macbook Pro as if it has never been setup21 Jul 2007 19:00 GMT11
I turned on my Macbook Pro and setup a user account, but didn't run
Migration Assistant at that time.  I've now learned that it would have
been easier to transfer my filevault-protected account on my iBook if
I had run Migration Assistant at that time (before account setup).

Dumb a.s question about Tiger OS's G5 and Intel21 Jul 2007 18:37 GMT22
I am now running my iMac G5 from a LaCie firewire drive cloned from my
internal, boot partition and all, because the G5 has to go into the
hospital for a power supply transplant.  The machine came with Panther,
and I upgraded it to Tiger from your basic retail package with download
Basic Mac questions from a Windows user21 Jul 2007 17:46 GMT10
I'm considering replacing a four-year old Windows desktop system with
a Mac. I'll need to get one with Windows also installed since I have a
lot of software that doesn't have Mac equivalents.
My old system is a 2GHZ Pentium 4 with several internal upgrades. In
ActiveX plugin in Safari in Mac21 Jul 2007 12:21 GMT7
I work on an internet application where users can take printouts of
available coupons/tokens from the website by selecting them. The print
option is written as an activex browser plugin. So this print option
works fine in IE on windows OS. But when the same website is opened on
Dimise of some G4's21 Jul 2007 10:22 GMT7
Looks like many models of the G4 desktop are heading for the
scrapyard!
Due to faulty power supplies which are not only no longer vailable but
very expensive even if you can find a refurbished one, has dopped the
iMac G4 20"21 Jul 2007 09:25 GMT13
There's one of these computers sitting used in a store nearby and I'm
considering picking it up, but I'd like to confirm a few things first.
1) This model is *not* able to boot into OS 9 directly, correct?
2) This model has the special Apple Pro Speakers jack, correct?
New Message Dock Icon in Mail question21 Jul 2007 05:47 GMT13
All,
I have a little annoyance that I can't seem to fix in OS X Mail. So,
when you have an unread message in your Inbox, you know how the dock
icon changes to have the red number with the number of unread
Adware removal tools21 Jul 2007 05:09 GMT4
I just got a message from "Disk Cleaner" while running Firefox and it
told me the benefits of installing the Disk Cleaner-utility on my
system. Great!!!
I also use Windows so I recognise adware/spyware when I see one :-).
Gray screen G4 Powerbook problem solved: bezel pressure?21 Jul 2007 01:55 GMT1
I'd reported a problem with a G4 PB a few weeks back and thought I'd
solved it by diagnosing a battery problem. When the original problem
recurred, I tried a few more options and think that I solved the bug.
Since the Book would operate fine in Target Disk Mode, running through

I am running OSXvnc on a mac in my basement.  I'd been using my pc
laptop to and vnc to connect to it.
All was good.   I just (lucky me) got a MacBook Pro and I can't
connect to the mac in my basement...

I just had to replace my ipod mini(obsolete model) and the guy who sold
me the nano didn't know to tell me that OSX 10.2.8 + itunes 6 wouldn't
work with the nano I just bought. So I got my Mom's copy of 10.4 and am
considering using it. During the finish part, when I am prompted ...
