Netscape 9.0b2 available15 Jul 2007 18:54 GMT7
Netscape 9 beta 2 is now available for download. The Macintosh press
has done their best to ignore Netscape 9, but it is a good browser.
What a contrast to the collective orgasms they were having over the
Windows version of Safari!

Mac Security: QuickTime 7.2 Update15 Jul 2007 14:41 GMT24
QuickTime 7.2 for Mac and Windows was released by Apple this
afternoon. It includes 8 security fixes. I personally consider a
number of these fixes critical.
Of interest: This afternoon there was also an accompanying update
Internal disks stopped mounting???15 Jul 2007 11:06 GMT3
I'm running 10.4.10, a MDD machine (dual G4 1.25 Ghz). I have two
optical drives, but recently (I believe it was since the 10.4.10 update)
one of the optical drives started failing. Any media inserted would
simply not mount.

nothing at all.

So many people have died by using this system, they

Is there a way to use .mac without iWeb?14 Jul 2007 19:41 GMT6
My daughter wants to use QuarkXPress to make web pages for her mac.com
site.  I tried FTPing to web.mac.com but it times out.  Is there a way
to upload the pages other than using iWeb's publishing?

Apple, the Rolls-Royce of computing?14 Jul 2007 14:34 GMT54
So, if the mac mini is to be dicontinued, as is the 17-inch iMac, what
is left as an entry-level mac? A $1400 20-inch iMac?
Someone please tell me they aren't about to do that.
Couple of PC-User Mac noob questions14 Jul 2007 12:33 GMT8
I have a Mac for testing web stuff I'm developing. I pretty much don't
know what's going on in the Mac world. I've always just booted it up,
start the browser, do the testing, and shut it down. I had an iBook
G3/500MHz until it died recently. Now my employer just presented me ...
QuickTime 7.2 breaks Unsanity Haxies?14 Jul 2007 11:39 GMT13
I installed the Apple QuickTime 7.2 update on my 10.4.10 PPC system and
all the Unsanity Haxies I use stopped working (Labels X, MenuMaster,
FruitMenu, WindowShade).  Unsanity hasn't gotten back to me yet with any
sort of "We know and are looking into it."
Store-bought Parallels is older than downloaded trial -- how to proceed?14 Jul 2007 06:51 GMT10
I have emailed Parallels already for the solution to this problem, but
they say it could take 3 days to get a reply:
I downloaded the trial Parallels Desktop about a month ago and installed
it on a 2.2GHz MacBook Pro. Having decided that Parallels is a good
Help a new switcher with Mac firewall?14 Jul 2007 04:31 GMT5
Zonealarm on Win XP allows me to set up some  programs, or any new
program, to pop up a window notifying me that the program wants to
access the internet, and lets me allow or deny. I particularly like to
use this feature for Realplayer, which is 99% spyware, but occasionally
Help please for a windozer14 Jul 2007 03:44 GMT3

Zip -- not Classic13 Jul 2007 21:21 GMT9
How do you tell the 10.3.9 finder to use the "normal"
unzip to open a .zip file.  Mine as of about a week ago
tries to launch Classic and Stuffit.
