http://UniGen.us/DB Takes seemingly around thirty seconds of "waiting for unigen.us" before anything is rendered. OmniWeb takes less than five.

| DVD burner gets lost | 26 Jun 2007 23:25 GMT | 5 |
I have an external DVD burner connected via an ATA-USB adapter to my MacBook. It's connected through a non-powered USB 2 hub, if that matters. When it works, it works fine, but for some reason, it regularly becomes unavailable. I can press the button on the front and insert a

| Finder Text Looks Bad on Pismo | 26 Jun 2007 23:22 GMT | 7 |
Looking at OS X on my daughter's Pismo, I'm struck by how jagged the characters are -- especially larger sized ones in e.g. the menu bar. I used to use that machine with OS 9, and I recall that the screen fonts looked just fine.

| Why can't computers be simple? | 26 Jun 2007 20:50 GMT | 235 |
Why can't computers be simple? They are not simple, will never be. Windows is especially hard to use, compared to OS X. By contrast, when I get in my car, all I have to do is turn it on, step

| Canon Pixma iP4300 sharing headaches | 26 Jun 2007 16:49 GMT | 4 |
I am trying to set things up so that a computer running Windows Vista can print to a Canon Pixma iP4300 printer hooked up to my iMac (20" Intel, running MacOS 10.4.XXX). I want to use "native" drivers on the Vista side (so that I get full

| iPhone stuff | 26 Jun 2007 16:47 GMT | 4 |
A few weeks ago, my cell phone fell into the toilet and stopped working. Verizon tells me, depending on which store I asked at, that 1. I can't get a phone at a two-year-contract price until July 1 of this year, which is one year before I'd normally be eligible for one.

| [Q]Copie dossier et Terminal | 26 Jun 2007 16:42 GMT | 6 |
J'ai fait des essais de copie sur clef USB d'un dossier contenant des sous dossiers eux même contenant des photos. Dossier env. 1 Go, 30 sous dossiers, 550 photos, clef 2Go. C'est abominablement long, 35 min, et j'ai donc essayé dans le Terminal

| G4 Yikes and OS X Panther, Tiger, & Leopard | 26 Jun 2007 16:00 GMT | 1 |
I am a Mac newbie. I've run PC for 20 years but got my hands on a Mac PowerPC G4 400 MGHz Yikes (PCI Graphics) machine for free. It came with keyboard and mouse, but needed the rest (which I already had). I figured this was a cheap and easy way to start making the switch and

20" PPC iMac, 250 GB HD, 1.5 GB RAM, OS 10.4.10 For some time I have had the internal disk in three partitions, with nearly everything (25GB) in the first, nothing but a large archive folder (5GB) in the second, and the third empty.

| scary stupid question | 26 Jun 2007 12:33 GMT | 1 |
OK, this is a bit of a reach but what the heck. My favorite game from days long since past was "Chuck Yeager's Air Combat". Loved it! Spent hours playing it and kicking a.s in the computer lab.

| Restoring "deleted user" account with same name?? | 26 Jun 2007 03:44 GMT | 1 |
I'm asking on behalf of a friend who is in deep trouble. On her old iBook she deleted her most important user account, say, of the name "foo"; later, she re-created an account with the very same name "foo".

| Problems | 25 Jun 2007 22:48 GMT | 1 |
Friday evening, my computer slowed to a crawl. Rebooting didn't help. Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, and TechTool Pro all fixed some problems, but it didn't help. I tried to reinstall OS X (archive and install), but everything froze with two minutes left in the entire process. ...

| Dumbest question ever | 25 Jun 2007 22:40 GMT | 13 |
I've got a Mac Pro and am wondering can it be started from the keyboard? I've gone through the help file and can't seem to find anything. But the keyboard must have an on key???
