Applications folder28 Jun 2007 12:36 GMT17
When I got OS X, I assumed the Applications folder was just to make it
easy for the user to find applications.  I began keeping my music
applications in my Music folder so I could find one if I forgot its
name.  Today I downloaded Audion and put it in my Music folder.  I tried

Let's everyone on comp.sys.mac.system just not reply to the crossposted
iPhone threads any more.  Without replies, the messages should start to
abate.  It's obvious that those jerks aren't interested in any
reasonable debate or discussion.
Stumbling through making bootable 10.4.10 back-ups28 Jun 2007 08:08 GMT11
Today I again tested SilverKeeper and my ability to use it to create a
bootable back-up system of my Quicksilver's OS X 10.4.10 on an external
FW HD. The LaCie instructions appear to include a redundant process, as
they say I can format the desired destination volume under OS 9 ...
Webshots problem28 Jun 2007 04:50 GMT4
I've been downloading images from Webshots for years, but about a month
ago something happened. Now the images show up as gibberish in the
browser window instead of being files in my download folder. They don't
answer questions from unpaid users. Is there something in the browser ...

What files from 10.3.9 are necessary to construct a minimal start up
system for one of those little USB plug in drives?  How much space would
this take?

Could anybody tell the name of the classic font used in Mac OS' user
interface? The one used for window titles, top menu bar and buttons,
as shown in these screenshots?

Burning DVD with Roxio Toast  Titanium 7.1.2 on MacOS 10.4.927 Jun 2007 18:49 GMT4
I have this very large Video TS File which appears to be jut under 8 GB.
I also have a few Verbatim DVD+R DL disks which, according to the label
on the DVD, appear to be 8.5 GB.  (The older ones are rated for 2.4X
Speed; the newer ones for 8X Speed.)
Do NOT delete your system fonts..27 Jun 2007 18:32 GMT26
My wife recently acquired a 10.4 MNACOS Mac, and of course it in;t 9.2,
but it is sorta Unix, so muggins here has been called upon to 'get it
back the way I had it wioth he old machine'
Well one complaint was 'there are too many fonts in the font list'.
iPhone Mania-Pictures from Apple Store27 Jun 2007 18:08 GMT1
I just went by the Apple Store in Broomfield, CO yesterday. I was
amazed.  The store was packed.  You could hear calls coming in about
the iPhone, people were asking questions, people were looking at the 4
ft. mockups at the entrance, etc. I talked to the employees and they

So, I woke up my Mac this morning to check emails etc...hit the 'Write'
button to fire off a quick email before I headed out to work and had to
restart by holding down the power button for several seconds.
I was greeted with the following upon re-booting:
