iPhone Mania-Pictures from Apple Store29 Jun 2007 14:11 GMT1
I just went by the Apple Store in Broomfield, CO yesterday. I was
amazed.  The store was packed.  You could hear calls coming in about
the iPhone, people were asking questions, people were looking at the 4
ft. mockups at the entrance, etc. I talked to the employees and they

CrashReporter option:  Report Crashes to Apple?29 Jun 2007 09:01 GMT7
When the CrashReporter is in "Developer" mode, each crash that it
catches offers you the option of reporting that crash to Apple.
This would seem sensible if the program that crashed was one that came
from Apple; as Apple's developers could then use the information
Will any of the news networks carry live coverage of the 6pm iPhone launch on Friday29 Jun 2007 05:41 GMT1
Maybe it was a shrewd move to have the launch at 6pm.
I doubt it. But will any networks have news coverage? (UK)
I remember when it was announced, some dude was interviewed for ages
on Sky News and stuff.
External harddrive wont read anymore on mac system29 Jun 2007 00:51 GMT2

doppler radar loop and java28 Jun 2007 21:55 GMT5
A loop of ten doppler-radar images can tell you if a thunderstorm is
about to hit.  With dialup the download could take several minutes.  My
neighbor with a PC and cable could get it in five seconds or so.
Now I have DSL.  This loop is still fairly slow, apparently due to java:

Folder I can't delete28 Jun 2007 18:47 GMT6
I have had, for a few weeks, a folder that shows up in a Finder window,
labeled "untitled CD." It has a hazard icon on it (3 yellow triangles, with
3 black in between each yellow one).
It doesn't show up on the desktop. When I go to the Finder window and try to

Tips sought for optimizing 10.4.10's performance28 Jun 2007 15:52 GMT11
After only a few days of use, I can already tell that OS X 10.4.10 is
an improvement over 10.4.9 in some ways. Still, I'm interested in
whatever I can do to maximize system performance, or (if this is a
better approach) to find the optimal balance between speed and

Copy partition (/harddisk) on old slot-loading iMac.28 Jun 2007 15:11 GMT4
Hey there, I recently received an old slot-loader (color unknown,
colorblind) from a friend. It had a 7GB (IIRC) harddisk, 64MB RAM and
OS9 installed. It's now running with 40GB, 384MB and Tiger (only).
Here's the deal.

Richard Greening28 Jun 2007 12:48 GMT3
Another dickhead in league with Nick Ludgater was Richard Greening who
is a computer fixer-tweaker type dogsbody in Huddersfield. In our
technical drawing class he would whisper things about me to Nick and
they'd sit snickering and looking pleased with themselves like prime
