Excel file from website.27 May 2007 05:46 GMT1
An oddity to me, but perhaps someone can explain: I have two user
accounts for one web site that keeps track of referee assignments, and
at the end of the year, I can pull down an .xls formatted document that
I'm meant to use to submit an invoice.
How To Resume An iChatAV File Transfer After Disconnect27 May 2007 05:45 GMT1
I had transferred 520MB of a 557MB file to another Mac via iChatAV file
transfer, when iChatAV lost its AIM connection.  I couldn't find a way
to resume the transfer.  I just started from the beginning again.
Is there a way to resume an interrupted transfer at the interruption

I have a G4 Dual 1.0 Gig Desktop with 1.5 Gigs of RAM aka Quicksilver

Firewire 400 standard.
I am thinking about another external hard drive.  Are the Gigabyte
Need help setting up ISP acct in 10.427 May 2007 01:16 GMT7
Been using OS 9.1 on an old clone. Decided to get a pre-owned eMac from
gainsaver.com. It has 10.4. I think I've entered the correct info in the
"Internet Configure" pane but, when I try to connect, authentication is
denied and the modem immediately disconnects. Any ideas? TIA,

Safari's .webloc files26 May 2007 23:28 GMT9
When I view a .webloc file with /usr/bin/strings, strings reveals no
content.  In fact, /bin/ls shows that the .webloc file is zero bytes.
So how does the Finder get the URL to open in Safari if there's no URL
(or seemingly anything else) in the .webloc?
Ipod charging question26 May 2007 18:20 GMT5
Hello can an ipod from the US be charged in Europe without a voltage
converter? Like a powerbook. I know you need an ac adapter plug to work
there. Just not sure if it automatically switches voltages.
Thanks

on my television.
External MacBook Battery Charger26 May 2007 15:31 GMT2
Having two batteries for the MacBook (or any laptop, for that matter)
is a great option to have beyond the obvious travel convenience.  For
me, if I'm on the living room couch and the power runs down, I don't
need to lug it back to the den to recharge it; instead I can swap the

Allowing a non-privileged user to listen on port 8026 May 2007 13:34 GMT2
Mac OS X is preventing non-privileged users from listening on port 80.
How can I change this so normal users to listen to port 80? For
instance starting an HTTP server. (I could switch to root to start the
server would work, but since I am in a testing environment this would

Batch Print from MS Word to PDF?26 May 2007 05:11 GMT7
One way people have been able to do this, is with the CUPS Virtual
Printer. (http://tinyurl.com/2bmn8x). But when I tried that with the
files I needed to print, I got messages saying "Page outside of margins.
Continue?" for every page.
