A tough problem : Error -253907 May 2007 04:38 GMT1
That's the error number I get when I try to print to a Desktop printer
in OS 9.2. Not the Classic mode of OS X, but 9.2.
It's a Microline 320 Turbo USB impact printer attached to beige G3-300
via a PCI board. I'm using the OKIIBM PPD from the Linux Foundation.

buy a new macbook before os x 10.5?06 May 2007 23:14 GMT4
I haven't had a mac for about 14 years, so I'm out of the loop. I want
to get a macbook, but should I worry about specs for upgrading when os
x leopard is released? it won't be significantly different, will it?
my usage is very basic... surfing, word processing, some music, maybe
iPod Extension Cable -- Surely Someone Makes One!06 May 2007 21:40 GMT2
I have an iPod (1st generation nano) and a recently purchased iPod compatible
clock radio. Like many people I prefer to have my iPod in a protective case.
The problem is that none of the iPod adapters that came with the clock radio
work properly with the iPod in its case. What I ...

Due to the increasing regulation of some swap lists, I have started
this list to give folks an unregulated alternative to saying Heil! to
overbearing list admins. Members and Non-Members alike may post.

Query About Mac OS X Fonts06 May 2007 19:48 GMT13
In her book, Mac OS X Fonts, Sharon Zardetto Aker categorizes what she
asserts are all of the fonts included in Tiger. I've compared the tables in
the book with the fonts resulting from a virgin install of Tiger, that is an
install onto a newly formatted drive, a drive on which ...

one end and local talk at the other.

iPod Nano battery doesn't last long anymore - replace battery or replace the iPod?06 May 2007 12:50 GMT1
I bought a black iPod 4GB nano as soon as they were launched.
The battery no longer retains its charge - I get like an hour or two
before the battery symbol goes red. It sometimes goes green again
(without being charged)
MacPhoneHome seems incompatible with Security update 2007-00406 May 2007 11:00 GMT2
all my intel based Macs which had MacPhoneHome installed (iMac Core 2
Duo, MacBook Core 2 Duo, MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo) refused to start up
again after Security update 2007-004 was installed - they hung at the
grey scroll wheel (and yes, I know about the two restarts).
viruses06 May 2007 09:27 GMT14
Hello. Is it really true there are no viruses that can attack a Mac?
I've recently switched from a Windows PC which was extremely stodged up
with anti-virus this and that. By not having this on my Mac, am I
essentially wearing a short skirt with no knickers and about to be
