Mac backup programs - bug galore28 Apr 2007 21:01 GMT89
I don't want to start a war but I can't believe how naive most Mac users are,
including most reading this newsgroup. They use a backup program and then
they never actually compare the source with the destination.
I tested several programs, incl. rsync, SmartBackup, ChronoSync, ...

a "Desktop cannot be created" message with an OK button. When I click
the button the Mac reboots. I have done the PRAM.
Screensaver Previewer28 Apr 2007 12:39 GMT6
I'm looking for an application that previews Mac OS X screensavers
without having to place them in the screensaver folder and open the
Desktop & Screen Saver panel in System Preferences.  I haven't found
anything in VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Upgrading OS28 Apr 2007 09:21 GMT2
An elderly lady that lives in my mom's apartment complex bought a
printer for her computer.  She couldn't get it to print though.  My mom
volunteered me to help her out.
To my surprise she has an IMac.  I've never used anything but a PC.  I

Cookie management27 Apr 2007 23:24 GMT20
I am wondering if anybody here actively manages the cookies left by
websites on their system? How often do you examine them, and what
criteria do you use for deleting them? This is something I have never
touched, so am just curious. Thanks.

Is FTP broken in 10.4.9 ?27 Apr 2007 22:01 GMT18
Updated transmit to the latest version. Everything in sharing/firewall
control panel is set properly. FTP won't work either on Yummy or
Transmit. Only thing that works is port 22 and SFTP. Tried deactivating
the firewall completely, still no go.

BT mouse not being seen after switch on27 Apr 2007 17:30 GMT8
Using a BT might mouse on a Mac Pro under 10.4.9. I am turning the mouse
(and in fact the keyboard) off when leaving the office, to save battery
power. And OS X puts up the nice graphic to say it can't find each of
them.
