Very Close Shave, almost lost $900 from BootCamp11 Apr 2007 05:06 GMT34
My recent adventures in Mac OS X/BootCamp/Parallels land.
All I wanted to do was to legally remove a $900 app' from a MacBook that
I sold, in order to install that expensive app' into a new MacBook.
Very close shave, very close indeed, dang near lost my $900 investment
Print jobs getting stuck11 Apr 2007 04:06 GMT5
I'm trying to print to a HP1315xi being shared by a Win2K machine on
my network. The print jobs from my OS X v10.3.9 iMac are getting stuck
in the print queue on the Win2K machine which otherwise prints fine.
Also, I tried deleting one of the two print jobs pending. It shows
Shapeshifter grey background theme11 Apr 2007 02:34 GMT15
I've been looking and looking and keep on downloading "grey" themes
only to find out its only the border that's grey, not the background.
Others have a black background, which is totally useless in many apps.
Does anybody know of a light to medium grey background (for the ...
stupid question from a newbie11 Apr 2007 02:03 GMT6
So, I've got what's hopefully an easy one. How do you mute the 'ta-da'
sound when starting the Mac (iMac with OS X)? None of the choices in
System Preferences - Sound seem to do the trick.
Thanks in advance,
Help creating ipfw rule11 Apr 2007 01:10 GMT16
My primary mail server for my domain is a anti-spam server located
elsewhere. That mail server then sends the mail to my server.
What I'm looking for is the IPFW rules to ONLY allow a port 25
connection from the anti-spam server.
RAW photo heavy on resources?10 Apr 2007 19:39 GMT12
I was trying to open a few RAW photos with Preview.  Using a PPC
1.25ghz Mini, 1 gb ram, 7200 rpm full size hard drive with IDE adapter
(not the notebook drive).  It takes about 30 seconds to open one 7mb
RAW photo.  Is this normal?  Do I need to load all of them into a
10.4.9 Slow and inefficient memory management?10 Apr 2007 18:37 GMT14
Ever since I upgraded to 10.4.9 on my Al Powerbook (1.25GHz) I've
noticed that many programs launch *much* slower (e.g. Firefox: 45 sec to
launch compared to about 5 or 10 before), take longer to switch to or do
certain tasks. Even quitting can take really long (e.g. Adobe ...
ClassicMacStuff/Macintel/Photoshop for example10 Apr 2007 13:52 GMT3
My original Photoshop was PS5 (Classic). My updated PS is CS2 in OsX.
What do you do when updating to the next version on a Intel Mac. Do not
the updaters look for an old version before they will update? I would
think the classic installers would also not work on an Intel Mac to ...
Mac mini + Xerox monitor10 Apr 2007 13:43 GMT1
Strange situation using Xerox 19" LCD monitor with Mac mini at home.
Somtimes (always?) when starting from off position, it is difficult to
link computer with monitor. After several tries and keyboard
selections - I get success. No rhyme nor reason.
Keyboard Controls10 Apr 2007 12:46 GMT4
I am having problems figuring out what all the keyboard controls are.
Is there a cheat sheet somewhere listing all the various controls? In
particular I am trying to figure out how to select multiple documents
at one time to attach to an email.  I looked under keyboard shortcuts
My disk drive icon10 Apr 2007 08:19 GMT3
The Icon in my menu bar for my CD & DVD drives disapearred. They will
open of the keyboard commands. So, how do I get them back. (Under
another account, the icon is still there.)
Thanks
iTunes: MP3s play sound but not MPEG videos ???10 Apr 2007 06:10 GMT2
Suddenly, my MPEG videos no longer play sound in iTunes.
MP3s play sound without any problem.
I haven't played any music videos since March 19th
(according to the "Last Played" column for "Movies" under "Library"
(Still) Looking for Mr. Good Mouse10 Apr 2007 04:30 GMT12
After the Apple Store in Santa Monica salesman swore up and down that
the Mighty Mouse could be programmed to switch between documents (the
most important add-on functionality for me because I often have to
move back and forth between open documents), I succumbed and purchased
Sharing chargers between MacBook and MacBook Pro10 Apr 2007 04:01 GMT6
Is it okay to share chargers between a MB and MBP? I only ask because
their wattages are different on the charger itself...
Two button mouse10 Apr 2007 01:00 GMT54
Does a 15" MacBook Pro come with a two-button mouse now?  Do apps pay
attention to the right click?
Sorry, I realize this seems like a troll.  It's not.  The tech specs
on Apple's website talks about the scroll trackpad, but no mention of
