Solved: "What Prevents an Internet Connection?"12 Apr 2007 05:21 GMT8
The PowerBook G4 that was unable to connect and a MacBook Pro were
competing for some hidden resource in my hard-wired FIOS router.
The problem was completely invisible; each computer had the proper
network settings and each had a distinct IP address in the proper
can't connect new iMac12 Apr 2007 03:21 GMT6
I've connected my new iMac to my Linksys WRT54G which is using WEP 128
bit 26 hex digits encryption. When trying to set up the wireless
network, the mac asks for a password (not a key, mind you). What
password is this? When I enter the 26 hex string, it fails to connect.
"Open Recent" menu command in OS X apps?12 Apr 2007 02:33 GMT3
Some OS X apps now have in their File menu an "Open Recent" command
located just below the usual "Open" command -- functions like an
application-specific version of the "Recent Items" command in the Apple
menu.  Very handy.
MacBook Battery Issue12 Apr 2007 00:38 GMT2
After a night of working on my 10 month old MacBook, I plugged in my
computer this morning.  Instead of charging, an X-battery symbol
appeared.  The battery is not charging but rather, the computer is
running directly off of the power cord.  What do I need to do to fix

These basic folders have the same read write permissions,

Q: Dual Layer and Double Sided DVD's11 Apr 2007 19:58 GMT6
Hate to show my ignorance here but I want to replace the stock
Superdrive in my DP MDD G4 so I don't have to compress DVD's that are
larger than 4.7GB. I know what the obvious difference is between the
two but I want to make sure that whatever I put into my Mac to burn
Question on rsync11 Apr 2007 18:55 GMT5
I'm using the following rsync command to backup my home directory:
rsync -a -e ssh /Users/user1/ /Volumes/LACIE  --progress --update
--exclude ".Trash/"
and it works after a fashion.  However, it seems to ignore '--update' in
Titanium Powerbook G4 (DVI) Max RAM?11 Apr 2007 17:01 GMT11
I have an aging Titanium Powerbook G4 (DVI) 800 MHz still in light use
(mainly just web browsing), and lately my wife finds that, due to the
fact that she keeps several tabs open while she works on it, Safari and
Firefox seem to tip it over the edge in terms of how much RAM is

I found an interesting article on machacking.net and now I wonder if
this is possible or not...

Websites like http://voipcheap.com and http://voipbuster.com and
http://adcalls.com offer some interesting long distance options.
However for some reason their dialers are only Windows based.  I was
wondering if anyone has found a similar system that is OS X

Does anyone know what's the optimal configuration for the Mac OSX Quad
XServe for 30,000 users running PHP scripts and mySQL?  Assuming 3,000
concurrent users.  And what are upgrade options if numbers double to
60,000 users and 6,000 concurrent users in 1 year's time?
? separate iTunes libraries11 Apr 2007 12:39 GMT2
I have more than 150,000 MP3s in my iTunes library.
iTunes is almost totally useless.
I must say that it does play music though... at the
expense of my ability to control the app.
