Transfering accounts between Macs01 May 2007 00:03 GMT2
What is the best way to import a full user account from a Mac to
another one? I know this can be done on a brand new Mac but how to do
it in the other situations? Is copying the account sufficient? Even
when the former account is a G4 and the new one a Intel?
.Mac and back-ups30 Apr 2007 19:30 GMT13
I haven't heard any talk about this in all of the recent back-up
threads. With everything else from .Mac is this a good option to buying
an external Hard drive and Retrospect, etc?
System sounds and iTunes playback level30 Apr 2007 14:49 GMT1
Can the volume level of the OS (10.4.9) system alert sounds be set to a
different, lower level than that of the iTunes music playback level?
Or are the two inevitably linked together - as they seem to be on my G4
Quicksilver.
Using command line CP versus SilverKeeper, or similar?30 Apr 2007 14:47 GMT4
I need to copy (to useable files, not into a proprietary backup scheme) about
300 gigs of files.  The files are on a Novell server.
There is a problem in that the folder structure sometimes gets too long, and
you can't read the file.

Why is iDisk so slow?29 Apr 2007 22:47 GMT5
I use my .Mac iDisk to synchronize data files between an iBook and an
iMac, both running 10.3.9.  I can modify a data file on one computer,
and the iDisk will automatically update the file to the other platform.
I find this very convenient, and I like the security of an off-site
Extract Web Archive?29 Apr 2007 22:47 GMT2
Is there a way to extract individual original files from a Safari web
archive? Like the source from the background, linked files, etc., that
are obviously inside the archive, since you can view the page in its
entirety while off-line?
Problems Expanding .pkg files29 Apr 2007 16:27 GMT4
Hi. I am having trouble expanding .pkg files on my Mac.  I have my .pkg
files set to open up with installer.app.  However, when I double-click
the .pkg file, I see the icon open, but then installer.app does not run.
Also, when I double-click installer.app the same thing ...
Logging and Caching29 Apr 2007 15:32 GMT9
I'm wondering about what all of this data caching/logging is for.  I
never use it.  For instance, in Safari, there's a feature where a drop
down menu displays URL's close to the one I'm typing.  It's a nuisance.
It appears that Safari has stored every URL I've ever used, and they

iMac G5 Hard Drive Q29 Apr 2007 07:15 GMT18
I have an original iMac G5 from 2004 and I was looking at the hard drive
while replacing the power supply and noticed a black four-wire cable
that connects from the front of the drive to an area on the main board
near the RAM slots. What is that cable for? I know its not the SATA ...
