I just switched from PC to Mac. In the PC I could erase files (or emails in outlook) directly without moving it to the trash can first. Can this be donde in Mac? Thank you very much in advance

I use a Deskjet 980C, connected via a USB hub to a Powerbook G4 running OS 10.4.8. In the Utilities folder is a file called HP Inkjet Toolbox, of which I have version 6.7.0.

Running from a non-admin account on 10.4.8. I have a FW drive partitioned into two volumes. If I go to Disk Utility and try to unmount either or both of the volumes, I get prompted for an admin password. Clicking the Details triangle shows:

I'm new to the mac programming. And i need to access the resource handle, to fetch the text in the dialog. GetResource() is used to get the resource handle. I'm aware of few APIs for similar work i.e. GetDialogItem();

I transfered some files from my camcorder to my HD, in the movies section in my home folder. But i cannot change the file extension, from .mov to .mpg. but when i move the files to my desktop i can change the file extension.
