Mac OS X 10.4.8 I downloaded a disc image (GoogleVideoPlayer.dmg) but when I double clicked it on the desktop, no mounted disk image icon appeared. This is strange because the image definitely mounted as I could see by

I have a dial up internet connection and i normally get speeds of 4KB/s or 5KB/s and that is normaly the speed of my downloadds would go, but today when i started my downlaod it was doenloadding at a speed of 30KB/s to 40KB/s (WOW) i was suprised that dial up could even go that

I read a review of Vista which included the following statement: "As on the Mac, you can now drag favorite folders into a list at the left of open windows, so it's easy to get to them". I'm new with Macs - What does this mean?

How can I kill a fullscreen application that's not responding? The command+option+escape menu doesn't pop up - it seems to me like the fullscreen application keeps the focus.

I was wondering if anyone could diagnose this mysterious behaviour for me. At least, I think it's mysterious. My computer's name is "Naughty". When I enter a bash shell, the apparent name of my computer changes to 'carolinemccaw'. Example below:
