| Review of VMware Fusion | 23 Dec 2006 15:02 GMT | 1 |
I expect that eventually VMware will have something that really can compete with Parallels, but they aren't off to a great start: http://aplawrence.com/MacOSX/vmware_fusion.html

| Encryption | 23 Dec 2006 09:15 GMT | 2 |
Is there any way to encrypt files into archives that can later be opened on a Windows PC? It seems that Windows can't open .dmg files. Maybe it's possible to encrypt a .zip file? Typing "man zip" in Terminal shows a "-e" flag that claims to offer

| Eric's Solitaire Sample quirk? | 23 Dec 2006 05:57 GMT | 2 |
I have found myself hopelessly addicted to Eric's Solitaire Sample. It runs in the Classic Mode. When I boot my G4 running Tiger, I have it set up to display my Stickies and iCal. If I try to run Eric's at that point from the Recent Items menu,

On my old G3/9.2.2/HP 870 Printer/HP driver 9.4.2 system I could do partly automatic 2-sided printing. That is, once the Print command was dispatched, the odd pages of the document would be printed. Then the printer would wait for me to manually turn over the document, put it

| No simple features in gmail with Mac Safari | 22 Dec 2006 17:47 GMT | 7 |
I am not so worried about the fancy stuff. I just want to change font, change color, find quick contacts and that sort of stuff. I have Firefox going at work and everything works and I am to lazy to download it at home (I'm at work most of the time) so when I do open up Safari

| Easy way to test Powerbook new drive *before* reassembly? | 22 Dec 2006 17:37 GMT | 1 |
Almost a year to the date after installing a new drive in my son's 12 inch Powerbook, I have had to replace it. I think that he dropped it. Having gone through the process a year ago, I am somewhat familiar and comfortable with all of it; however, I have encountered the same

| Command-Control-Power | 22 Dec 2006 15:21 GMT | 3 |
My fairly old Powerbook G4 usually does not seem to start up from the Power button (though I think I can hear the fan running). It always starts if I use Command-Control-Power. I guess that the cause of this is a dead backup battery, but I am
