Does VPN mean I have access to a local IP?14 Dec 2006 17:32 GMT5
I am connected to a VPN from a Windows XP client.  The VPN is hosted on
a Mac OS X server . Does being connected via a VPN mean that I can see
other machines within the VPN and identify them by their local IPs?
My instinct tells me know, because my machine has a local IP relative

Opening movies in Safari14 Dec 2006 01:59 GMT7
When I click an mpeg/avi movie in Safari, it opens in a Safari tab.  I
much prefer it opening in a Quicktime window outside the browser (every
other browser I've used either works this way or is configurable in
this manner).  I cannot seem to figure out how to configure Safari to

ADC Extension Cable for CRT?14 Dec 2006 00:53 GMT4
Has anyone found an cost-effective way to extend the (hard-wired) cable
from the (discontinued) Apple 17-inch CRT monitor? The cable uses an
ADC connection, and it's just a couple feet too short to reach the CPU.
Thanks, in advance.  -Cloy
"X Box": MSFT Plagiarizes Apple AGAIN?13 Dec 2006 19:51 GMT29
Is it just me, or is the "X Box" yet another example of Microsoft stealing
ideas from Apple?  The Apple Pippin was the EXACT same concept - from the
built-in modem to the scaled-down PC architecture - it was just way ahead
of its time (like many Apple products. Like the Newton.)

Final Cut Express HD problem13 Dec 2006 17:31 GMT1
When I got my new MacPro, I imported my old user profile from my G5.
Every time I try to launch FCEHD, I get an error that an AGP video card is
not found.
Is there a workaround, or am I looking at an uninstall/reinstall?
Where does 10.3.9 "Commands" folder belong?13 Dec 2006 16:31 GMT3
Moving some of my files around in the Finder, I inadvertently moved a
folder called "Commands" out of somewhere and into another folder.
Problem is, I don't know where it came from, so I don't know where to
put it back.

with the eMac by swapping them out?
Aiprort express for iTunes only13 Dec 2006 14:17 GMT1
Hi. I'm going to help my son set up his airport express for itunes
streaming only. He does not have Internet access. He sometimes tries to
join other wireless networks as they become available. He had his new
airport express working for streaming iTunes but as soon as he tried to ...
IPOD and USB hub13 Dec 2006 12:19 GMT2
I bought an IMAC G5 in January, just before Apple went to Intel. The
only free USB port I have is used for my printer. Now, my kids have
IPODs and they need to download music through the USB port which means
lots of unplugging and plugging in that port, something I am not happy
Controlling Audio Input from the SuperDrive13 Dec 2006 07:58 GMT1
Is there any way to reduce the audio volume of CD tracks when they're
imported, say, into iMovie or iTunes? The volume of the music I want to
use for an iMovie project to produce a DVD is far too loud, and
increasing the volume of the narration audio clips beyond 150% is not
