Is there a way to sing with iTunes through a microphone?18 Dec 2006 00:12 GMT1
My 6 year old nephew loves to play songs on iTunes on his parents' iMac
G5 and sing along. I'd like to get him a microphone to plug into the
iMac so that he can sing and have his voice amplified. Is that
possible? What hardware and/or software do I need?
What is the ipod video hard drive speed(rpm)? And can it stream .mp3s from itunes?17 Dec 2006 21:35 GMT15
My old 4 year imac has a 10 gig hd. I am getting an 80 gig ipod video
for christmas. Most of the space on my imac hd is taken up by 5 gigs of
.mp3s. I'd like to drag my itunes music folder to my ipod video and
store it on there. If I do store my .mp3's externally on the ipod. Will

I'm starting to do some development on my newly purchased Mac and need
to ask a stupid question. I realize that home and end keys do not act
the same way under Mac OS X and Windows, however how do you get to the

Numeric Pad on Keyboard17 Dec 2006 20:00 GMT3

Running (binary) Linux apps under Mac OS X?17 Dec 2006 18:46 GMT6
I'm looking to get one of the new MacBook Pros.  There is one piece of
proprietary software that I REALLY need to run, and that's Xilinx ISE.
I can get versions of that for Linux, Windows, and Solaris., and
running any of those would be just fine.

G3 PowerBooks - still worth getting one?17 Dec 2006 03:00 GMT14
After years of occasional PC usage (at some point more intensive, but
that's been a while), my brother has decided to get a Mac laptop. He
talked to the local Mac reseller, who offered to get him a G3 PowerBook
from eBay after Christmas. While I'm ecstatic that he's finally
Firewire cords16 Dec 2006 20:14 GMT11
I've had sporadic occurances of my Firewire drives preventing normal
bootup. I know this because if I disconnect the main cord, the computer
then boots. I assume that a cord is responsible. I have 4 Firewire
drives (Maxtor OneTouch v. 1, driver updated) and a G4 1.25 Dual
firefox 2.0 and os X16 Dec 2006 19:17 GMT1
I just got my first Mac about a week ago (it's running OS X Tiger and
patched).  While it's not a powerhouse machine (1.83 Ghz and 512MB of
RAM) it seems that Firefox 2.0 really eats up a LOT of RAM and starts
to slow things down.  A top show FF2.0 using between 425-450M of RAM.
