I've had a rash of hard drive failures recently, 3 in 3 weeks, with no obvious connection between them. I'm wondering if I'm missing something and they are related. Also is there a utility which will see a drive the system doesn't? Like

I want to confirm that I can use 10.2 upgrade cd's to upgrade from MacOS 8.6 to MacOS 10.2. I know that I will not be able to use classic since I do not have 9.x. Thanks

How can I get rid, once and forever, of the ellipsis (...) in filenames in *all* view modes. They drive me nuts. I am using Mac OS 10.4.7. Couldnt find anything in Preferences. Thanks.

I'm looking for a way to stream all audio output from my mac to my PC. I have a mac laptop and a Windows PC. The Windows machine is hooked into a nice amp with nice speakers. I would like to have the sound from my laptop to come through those speakers without connecting an audio

Until this year I used Netscape for email. I could type a nickname into the address field of an email and it would fill in the person's real name and email address. That was useful for two reasons.

Why doesn't Apple provided an auxiliary DVI >input< on the iMacs? If it had one, with an input selector switch, I'd be much more tempted to buy one and use it as a display for my Windows PC as well. Surely I'm not alone.

Yes, that is what happened the other day on the iMac! I walked in to install a new usb modem for my friend and I just inserted the CD--apparently the OS had not completed loading and I did not check nor did I know until later.

I am running OSX 10.4.7. Recently when I restart, it boots into open firmware every time and I have to type in "mac-boot" to get OSX to load. Can anyone help me to understand what may have happened? I would like to restart and go directly into OSX. HELP!

I have a client who is using OS 10.3.x and she insists on hanging on to an old HP LJ 5MP. which doesn't have an ethernet port. She had a dayna etherprint box for the longest time which was working fine then the box finally died.

I'm a long-time MT-NewsWatcher user. Since I upgraded to 3.5.2 every black-and-white .jpeg file displays as blank on my screen. Monochrome pictures scanned in color mode display just fine, as do colored pictures, of course.
