iBook connector16 Sep 2006 16:48 GMT10
A few years ago - I bought an iBook (G4) and it came with a small white
connector to use with monitors and projectors.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement (and what to name it)?
The connector's larger end looks like it has 22 male pins and a larger
WalkaboutLib?16 Sep 2006 13:46 GMT1
I've just installed Cisco software for a Cisco wireless PC card on a
Wallstreet running OS9.2. But I can't use the card becuase the software
refuses to run, citing that it 'can't find (or launch - I forget which
now) WALKABOUTLIB'. What the bloody hell is 'walkaboutLib'? I

some good apps to use? I have Open Office... Or can I get some
templates for Open Office? They also will have to be able to save in a

OS X Dock customisation16 Sep 2006 07:17 GMT1
Does anyone know whether it is possible to layer the OS X Dock so that
it disappears under any open windows (like the icons on the OS X
desktop)?
I've tried hiding the dock but I don't like having to drag the cursor
Transfer user data to a new Mac16 Sep 2006 07:03 GMT6
this is probably very lame...
I've seen, some time ago, some screenshots of an application that
supposedly copies all the user data from one Mac to another (I guess it
copies preferences, applications, documents and the like) over a network.
Client Desktop Picture.16 Sep 2006 06:17 GMT2
I have set up a Mac Network with OS X Server 10.4.7 and all clients running
OS X 10.4.7.  How do I force a desktop picture when a user logs in?  It is
always defaulting to Aqua Blue.  I have renamed Aqua Blue on the local
machine and this change the desktop picture for the logon ...
Seeing a linux server's screen (X11 Forwarding?)16 Sep 2006 05:29 GMT2
with my Mac I would like to access a server running on Suse Linux and
see the KDE Desktop. I would like to use my Mac only as a terminal and
start all apps on the Linux box to which I am connected with 100
MBit/sec. If I am not mistaken, this is called X11 Forwarding.

Just looking for recommendations...
My "must-have" criteria:
1) perform incremental backups
2) backup to compressed (e.g. zip) archives
How to transfer files from Powerbook 3400 to iBook G4??16 Sep 2006 03:49 GMT11
Like the title says, I need to get about 1 GB of files from a Powerbook
3400 onto a iBook G4.
Is there some simple way of doing this by connecting an ethernet cable
between the two machines?  I have a regular ethernet cable but do I
Parallels question16 Sep 2006 03:43 GMT5
I purchased a Mac Pro and installed the trial download of Parallels.  It
looks good however when I use the IE browser I am only able to get to
google.com and not to practically any other website.  Has anyone else
encountered this problem?
DVD mounting erratically16 Sep 2006 02:53 GMT4
I burned a DVD+R on a MacBook Pro and put it in a G4 iMac. The drive whirled for
a while and then stopped. The disk did not mount. Disk Utility didn't see it.
Tried this with three blank DVDs. Then I went to do something else, leaving the
third disk in the machine, and the iMac ...

accessing font folders?16 Sep 2006 00:16 GMT10
I discovered the new MacBook Pro has a way for me to put my favorite
fonts into a folder--but I can't seem to ACCESS the folder, at least not
from Appleworks 6, which is my current not-well-loved WP.
On the G4 I had an old NOW thing that let me rearrange them OUT of
