G3 web server18 Sep 2006 07:37 GMT5
I have a G3 with OS X and am planning to use it with my DSL connection
and a NO-IP static address to host my personal sites. About 7 or 8
different domains sites. The DSL is off a router in my bedroom. Do I
need NO-IP? Does my IP change?
PowerBook 10.4.7 -- Firefox opens then disappears.18 Sep 2006 07:05 GMT18
I'm a newbie here, been using a Mac for a week. Person comes into my
office with a NICE PowerBook and 10.4.7. She says she transferred
everything from another Mac onto this one using FireWire and I think
she said she had issues with FireFox and Netscape on the old machine.
Mac Security: 2006-09-1418 Sep 2006 03:51 GMT2
Windows users just came off their worst month of security in history!
Meanwhile, as one might expect, selling Windows related security has
become big business. I have personally been pestered by security
salesmen via email and on the phone. Little do they know that I have the
Tiger NTFS external HD18 Sep 2006 03:19 GMT2
I was under the impression that macosx didn t recognize NTFS formatted
HD's. However, when I plugged in my usb external HD, it recognized the
drive just fine and read the files fine. In fact, for some reason, when
I plug this drive into a PC it takes a while for the pc to index ...

I've been using CodeTec for some time now but I recently saw this

Using built in iSight (in MacBook Pro) as a covert securiy camera to record video18 Sep 2006 01:45 GMT4
I could easily cover up the green light.
Could I use iChat (or something) to video record my bedroom. (in
theory). So that way if anyone was to go snooping (burglars, cleaners..
etc) it would all be recorded
System Preferences is missing in action17 Sep 2006 20:16 GMT1
Anyone ever see this?  When I attempt to bring up System Preferences it
doesn't respond.  I looked in the logs, Conole- shows missing
mainmenu.nib file.  Doing some additonal snooping, it looks like it
originated with my Office Mac installation.  Running OS X 10.4.7
Problem with Album Artist (iTunes 7)17 Sep 2006 17:52 GMT8
I have an album where the artist is Fred, and some songs have featured
artists. For example, Fred ft. Cornelis. What I did then, was to set
'Artist' to Fred and 'Album Artist' to either Fred or Fred ft. Cornelis.
This cleans-up the music directory by moving all songs into the ...
Battery Charger Indicator17 Sep 2006 17:05 GMT7
Hello Macintosh People!
I'm not sure if this is a hardware, software, or operating system
issue, but this group seems to be very experienced, so I've started
here.  I apologize ahead of time if my post is off topic.

I have to design some business cards for someone and I want to what are

Newbie Questions17 Sep 2006 16:41 GMT4
I'm a PC user, say what you will...I will say that as soon as I latch onto
some more $$, I'll certainly be seeing about getting a new Mac, if, for the
very least, to learn to use it, and then maybe make it my desktop...people I
know that use Macs swear by them for the most part.
Garage Band question...17 Sep 2006 16:35 GMT3
I have a question about the initial start-up of GarageBand.  When I
start the program, there will be a start up indicator bar and then a
window will come up for the iZotope Authorization Wizard and then it
asks me to Authorize to authorize This Wizard to continue or I can click
Decrypting contents of a DVD already copied onto hard drive17 Sep 2006 14:29 GMT2
I've copied the contents of an encrypted DVD onto my hard drive,
resulting in VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders being created.
Is it possible to use software like Mac the Ripper to decrypt the disk
from these folders?  I don't have the DVD disk itself any more.  Or
