Intel Mac Backup Problems01 Oct 2006 00:40 GMT7
Okay, I will admit it, I am fussier than most when it comes to restoring
my boot drive after a crash.
What I really need is a course on how to create custom backups, the kind
that can backup EVERYTHING on a boot drive, plus being able to "modify"
X-Serve and a SDLT Stand-Alone Tape Drive30 Sep 2006 20:58 GMT3
We have a Mac X-Serve (Mac OS 10.2.8) that is backed up with a
stand-alone tape drive. The tape drive had gone bad, and we had
replaced it. I had removed the bad tape drive by powering it off, and
removing it while the box is still on.

I have a 17" iMac G5 w/ 768 MB RAM running 10.4.7.  The past 2 or 3
months, I will be surfing away and I'll start to notice a blue-ish
tinge in certain areas of the screen.  The discoloration moves w/ the
windows and often seems to be brought on by dragging a window around.
Copying User Question30 Sep 2006 14:48 GMT13
What's the best way to "clone" a user from one OS X machine to another?
The OS versions will be the same.
Is it as simple as creating a .dmg of /Users/wife (say) and then
restoring it to the new system? Would I have to create the user on the
Couple Newbie Questions About Mail.app30 Sep 2006 10:25 GMT2
I just installed the latest version of Mac OS X  and I'm puzzled about
something. There is now a tilde (~) attached to the names of my Inbox
and the Pop Account mailboxes. What does it mean? I thought that the
e-mail on my servers was overfilled so I went there and erased it all. ...

I've posted before on this issue, but no resolution so far.

empty, and my phone has lots of contacts on it.

Epson 740 on Tiger, G-429 Sep 2006 22:00 GMT8
Just installed Tiger on son's G-5 (2@500 Mhz), and installed only the
Epson printer package as it's doubtful any other printer will be run

Any tips? It's recognized, but in the printer utility, it keeps showing
fortran compiler recommendation request29 Sep 2006 19:53 GMT6
Don't ask :-)  but one of my offspring needs to compile some fortran
code as a cross-check against some c++ development code.  This is all
thanks to a certain professor at a certain unnamed Ivy League school
who's attacking this problem like a bulldog.
