The university I work for doesn't want to buy me a Mac to work with, so
I am grabbing them as they pass through surplus.  I have a couple of
iMacs and a G4.  What I want to do is use this Studio Display monitor,
but the power supply for this monitor is built into the video cables

Using OS X 10.4.7 Mail and suddenly my Trash vanished.  I can't delete

OK, I know this is bad.  I am getting a smart error on my main HD.  It
happened a few months ago and I brought the mini to the apple store as
it was still under warranty.  When I got to the store there was no more
error.  When I got home the error was gone and did not show up ...

The problem is as follows.  I have a friend living 400 miles away using a G5
iMac and OS X.  He also has the misfortune in having a broadband account with
British Telecom.   The system along with the broadband supply was set up from
new by a local Mac dealership.  

Recently my wireless keyboard numeric keypads have caused my Mac to
lock up.  The lock up is cleared  with Alt-Apple-Esc, and then
canceling the dialog box.
I think it might be the Num-Lock key not engaging. Does anyone know of

Do many Mac users use Portrait mode?  I find it so much easier to read
but my Mini's 32mb built in video doesn't cut it at 1024 x 1280.  1280 x
1024 is fine (landscape) but Portrait isn't so sharp.  I guess having 1  
widescreen monitor and 1 portrait monitor might cover most ...

I am new to this forum, my first post was the iMac that was unplugged
during an OS install and crashed. Well, I am up and running, thank you

I tried to network my G3 ibook and my mini by plugging in a
firewire-to-usb cable between the two computers. They were both on at
the time. The mini promptly shut down and will not turn on. The ibook

Is it true that iMacs will read and play .avi files from PC's but not
the reverse?  My experience with my Canon cam is that I can download
files from it to either iMac or PC and all is well.  Likewise if I move
the same files from PC (win2K or winxp) to iMac, but if I move  .avi

Is there a folder action or Applescript to add, "Play VIDEO_TS folder"
to the contextual menu so I can play them with VLC or DVD Player?  On
WinXP, you can right-click on a VIDEO_TS folder (or any folder with a
