As a second Mac, along with a G5 2.0 DP machine for real work, I have a
4-year-old Quicksilver G4 867 machine used mainly for storage. It was
made after Apple upgraded the ATA bus, so it supports larger drives. At
the moment it has a 500 and a pair of 250s installed (one 250 is ...
Stopping OS X from cascading windows29 Aug 2006 20:44 GMT33
This seems to be an Apple trait of always cascading new windows.  This
seems illogical as the window sizer is at the bottom right hand corner
which means its hidden when the window cascades.  So you have to drag
the window up then resize it.  I have to do this about 50 times a ...

I'm playing around with OpenVPN on my iBook (client) and iMac G5

eMac memory upgrade won't recognize29 Aug 2006 15:40 GMT2
I recently installed two PNY 512MB SDRAM memory modules (133MHz PC133 -
168-pin DIMM) into my eMac.  When I restarted a screen came up that
said "You need to restart your computer" and then it started this
string of programming language on the screen in a program that looked

I've spent the day searching the net for the answer, to no avail,

I've been having a nightmare installing Panther and other apps on a G4

i) couldn't install OSX onto the machine. It would stop with the
message "there was an error loading this software please restart". This

Apple Screws its customers again29 Aug 2006 05:44 GMT20
Apple locks down Final Cut / Final Cut Pro 4.x and whatever other versions

Pathetic way to program since they have a very limited array of hardware
they need to program for and still can't manage to do it ...

I'm attempting to connect the G5 iMac to the G4 iBook (both OSX 10.4.7)

Hey there,

That mysterious "dev" folder29 Aug 2006 01:57 GMT15
In addition to the four "usual" folders found at the top level of a Macintosh
volume, Applications, Library, System, and Users, there is a fifth folder,
dev, on those volumes managed by SuperDuper! as the targets of backups. What
I found via a bit of googling is that "dev" is ...
