[9.2.2] Should I delete a file called __??!!Hello??!!__ ?13 Aug 2006 20:24 GMT10
In my system's Preferences folder, there's a file named
__??!!Hello??!!__. It's invisible, with unknown type and
creator code. It's very small, and I have no idea where
it came from. Is anyone familiar with this, and is it something
[9.2.2] What is a Type 41 error?13 Aug 2006 20:23 GMT4
Desktop Swap Pro, an app that changes the desktop background
image at a user-defined interval, occasionally unexpectedly quits
due to an error of Type 41 (or maybe it's -41?). This appears to
happen when another app is attempting to do something at the
Mini-tower Mac?13 Aug 2006 17:16 GMT16
With the announcement of the Mac Pro, I wonder if there might be an
Intel-based Mac in the future, similar tot he way apple followed the MacBook
Pro with the MacBook models? I would like to see something in a mini-tower
configuration with less expansion capability than the Mac Pro. ...
Taget mode computer not recognized13 Aug 2006 14:22 GMT7
I searched the archives and I didn't find anything recent on this topic
so I'm hoping someone here has some experience with this.  I am trying
to use my old G4 laptop with 10.4.7 installed in Target mode with a
newer G4 laptop as the host (also on 10.4).
Trash has sort of disappeared13 Aug 2006 13:18 GMT7
I hope this is an okay place for this question.
My trash can is visible on the dock.  It's empty and I put something in
it, I can see that "something is in the trash."  If I empty it, it looks
--- empty.
imac modem13 Aug 2006 13:02 GMT3
Hi - maybe someone can help me here - my imac can't connect to the internet
anymore.  Probably the modem has been destroyed by a recent lightning storm.
Where can I get a replacement for it in the UK.  Is it fairly easy to fit?
Thanks

OS 10.4 Server Mail Auto-Responder?13 Aug 2006 07:36 GMT13
One of my managers wants an auto-response to go out to anyone who
e-mails her while she's away. I know how to set this up in mail.app, but
it seems to me that there should be a way to get the response generated
on the mail server (which is just using the built-in mail software). I'm

How to use a different bashrc script in a terminal?13 Aug 2006 01:14 GMT7
Greetings;
I'm a relatively-new mac user, by way of very long Windows and long-ish
unix use.  The last environment I worked in at home was a Fedora Core
release, and the gnome-terminal application had a feature that I
Use SilverKeeper until time machine ships13 Aug 2006 00:21 GMT24
As I noticed there are many people praising Apple for adding "time
machine" to Leopard, a backup solution, I must give a link. It is NOT
same thing. Time Machine will be extendible like Spotlight and it will
be part of OS running root level. It is just if you like a automated
Intel tower: what mb is it using?12 Aug 2006 22:59 GMT27
Does anyone have any pics of the motherboard?  What is it?  Especially
made for Apple?  Does Intel even make a motherboard with PCI Express and
no PCI? Or any detailed pics of the inside of the box?  It looks like
they're coming out with an interesting product.

To which directory do I need to copy them in order to use them to train
SpamAssassin.
My instructions tell me to use the command:
