has anybody know if there is a possibility to quit dashboard? i was
able to modify property list and quit finder but i don't know how or if
i can do it with dashboard.

Just for the past week or so I cannot download any linked files such as
bit torrent, dmg, or M3U. Everytime I try to download one of these
files, the download program says "cannot create file" and "safari can't
show the file in the finder because the file hasn't benn created yet".

I did a little experiment the other day that I would like to undo.  I
installed OS X on my external HD so I could monkey around with an
install without touching the one on my internal drive on the mini.
I want to reclaim the space.  I deleted the big folders like

I have two external drives with two partitions on one and four partitions on
the other. Immediately after formatting the drives I opened the Spotlight
system preferences and included all six partitions in the privacy list.

I have a first-gen duallie G5 PM and the optical drive is unacceptably
slow compared to what's on the market today.  I'd like to replace it,
but I insist on one that will work properly with the door in the case.

  Sometime ago a family member gave their old Mac Performa to see if I
could recover some old files off of it.  The problem is that when I
turn it on I get a small picture of a floppy disk on the screen and

A user has created a folder on the server that I cannot delete.  I'm
not sure who created it but it looks like someone copied their desktop
folder from Mac OS9 and tried to delete it but was only able to delete
the contents.  I've since tried to delete the folder, with no luck.

Got a core 2 mac mini last month. It is a heck of a lot faster than my

Sometimes, when I print a document (mostly happens with .pdf files)
on plain paper, my printer feeds two or three sheets at once, and the
sheet that's being printed to becomes slightly off-center. I have plain

Having trouble setting up my new iMac to work with an older HP JetDirect
170x.
Neither Apple nor HP seems to support it on Macs. It is connected to an

I have a new MacBook w/Intel OS-X.
I hooked up an erased (Mac Extended w/journaling) firewire drive and the
Intel OS-X DVD would not install a system on it.
O.K. -- I really didn't expect it would.

I was sent a pdf file that I can open with Acrobat Reader but not
Preview. Preview gives an error message. I never encountered this
before. Any idea? The error message is not very helpful, something like
"there was an error".
