Internal DVD burner for a G4 QuickSilver 733 MHz19 Aug 2006 04:37 GMT3
I installed a DVD reader in my G4 about three years ago.  It's now
about to die (I still can listen to CD's, although the sound is crappy,
but I can't view DVD movies anymore).  I'm in the market for a
replacement unit.  Ideally, I'd like to get an internal burner if the
Synchronize Apple Mail with Mail Server?19 Aug 2006 02:58 GMT1
My DSL was out for a couple of days, so I had to take my iBook to the
local coffee shops to connect to the Internet. I used a web interface to
send my POP email account at Earthlink. Now I'm wondering if there's any
way to get Apple Mail to retrieve the emails I sent, and store ...

Can you overlap songs on an iPod playlist?19 Aug 2006 01:46 GMT3
Hello.  I'm considering getting an iPod to use to play songs at
parties, but I would like to know if the iPod is capable of overlapping
the end of one song with the beginning of the next song, DJ style.  In
other words, eliminate the space between songs and start the next song
Windows equivalent of Garageband?18 Aug 2006 21:37 GMT5
I have been starting to play a little with Garageband and I really like
it's interface and ease-of-use.
Does anyone know if there is a Windows equivalent? If possible it would
be also good if files could be transferred to and from Garageband and
hard drive capacity18 Aug 2006 19:48 GMT3
I'm thinking of selling my G4 Power Mac, and I'm trying to figure out
what hard drives I have in it (can't remember their capacities). The
stock one is "60 GB" (in System Profiler it says 57.27 as the capacity
of the drive, and below where it shows the name of the drive it says
Leopard: System Requirements, the Answer18 Aug 2006 13:26 GMT135
Leopard only works on G4 Macs on up, with 256MB of ram as the minimum.
So Tiger is the end of the road for Firewire based G3's just as I
thought :)
The cutoff makes sense, especially since Leopard is still 8-10 months
changing file ownership18 Aug 2006 12:03 GMT8
I had one admin account with UID 507.  I have created a new one that has a
UID of 505, and I want to eventually delete the old one.
I have installed things in places like /Applications and /Library that are
owned by 507, which will no longer have an owner should the account be
Photo Booth broken?18 Aug 2006 11:26 GMT4
On my iMac G5, the Pop Art setting in Photo Booth has become broken,
displaying only red and orange (so as a result, only the top right
corner is visible) - does anyone know how I can fix this? All of the
other settings function fine.
Can't open pagemaker 5 files in 9.2.218 Aug 2006 06:13 GMT14
I put a pagemaker file on a jump drive and brought it to my PowerBook
G4. When I open up the folder it's in it just shows up as an exec file.
I have tried to open it with Pagemaker through the classic mode, but it
ain't happening. What do i need to do to read this file?
Any webcam recommendations for iMac G3 400 MHz18 Aug 2006 03:52 GMT5
I use a new MacBook Pro (2.16 GHz Core Duo) at work. At home my son has
an old iMac DV (G3, 400 MHz). I'd like to set up iChat between the two
machines. My question: is it possible?
>From a little forum trolling I've gathered that iChat AV won't work on
pasting in vi vs pico18 Aug 2006 02:08 GMT2
When I paste into Pico, it's like watching a snail crawl.
When I paste into vi, it's very quick.
Think 1200 baud modem slow. Literally.
Any idea what could be causing this? I'm not familiar enough with pico
Anyone know how to fix a Lacie Big Disk USB 2/Firewire 800/400 enclosure?18 Aug 2006 01:58 GMT2
Anyone know how to fix a Lacie Big Disk USB 2/Firewire 800/400
enclosure? Its the circuit board not the power supply. The drive spins
up but does not mount. The same drive works fine in another enclosure.

I recently purchased a Dell 1815 all-in-one. The software installation
seemed to go fine. I have the 1815dn option available in the Printer

The duplex printing options (labeled Two Sided Printing) in the Layout
