My Hd icon is disappeared both from my desktop and from finder. If I try to go up one level from my main user folder, I can see in the finder window's title that I'm actually in "Macintosh HD", but I I go further up I can see just the server folder (at Giovanni De Stefano's computer

I'm trying to install some unix software that requires using the unix "make" command to compile it. I'm getting a message that make isn't found but I have all the other unix commands that OS X has. Any idea how to get this working?

I did a Software Update early this week on my OS X 10.4.6 system (first such update in a couple of months). The update changed the menubar clock's timezone to GMT and I can't change it back to PDT. It seems to think PDT means GMT.

Used to be the rule of thumb to setting disk cache in the Memory cp was to allocate 32K per MB of physical RAM. I don't know if that applies to my system as it exists now. I have 1.37MB of RAM, and the calculation above results in a value higher than I'm able to set

How can I change the file access rights which are assigned to new files by default? My goal is that all members of a group have unrestricted access rights to all files which have been created (or copied, downloaded etc.) by members of the same group.
