Multi User Scheduling?03 Jul 2006 03:18 GMT2
Ok, this is the situation. I have an office of 5 people and we need a
schedule that we can all view and all edit. We can not use an online
service due to contractual obligation that involve not letting any info
out of the site. We have 6 Macs all running Tiger, two NT servers and 2

For anyone else who may care, this seems to have been fixed in Apple's
latest update to Mac OS X, version 10.4.7, available via the Software
Update applet.

I have a 1.33GHz PowerBook G4, about 3 years old,  running OS 10.3.9.
Lately, if I'm not plugged in to AC,
when the battery level reaches about 20%,
the whole system just shuts down suddenly without warning.

Finder preview images slow to load02 Jul 2006 20:24 GMT2
I've just upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.4.6 and I'm having a bothersome
issue with the preview images in Finder loading very slowly. This is
most noticable with large high res Photoshop files. Why is this
happening and is there a fix?

My wife has a new MacBook.  I dl'd Bootcamp assistant from apple 5 times

HELP! I downloaded 10.4.7 and my PowerBook won't boot02 Jul 2006 18:24 GMT5
I just downloaded the OS update 10.4.7, and when I tried to restart my
PowerBook, it wouldn't boot.  It's now stuck at the point where I have
the gray screen with the apple on it, and the little spinning circle at
the bottom.  It's a PowerBook from 2004 that doesn't have the new ...
Does Mac Malware Benefit From Obscurity? No! Proved By Data.02 Jul 2006 17:53 GMT41
One of the stupid/favorite winTroll excuses for Windows having thousands
of times more malware than Mac is that the Mac is 'obscure.' They say
that Windows having around 90% market share versus Mac having around 4%
market share justifies their conjecture.
Dual 1.8 - Unprovoked Kernel Panics abound02 Jul 2006 17:24 GMT18
I have had my dual 1.8 for about a year. For the past few days I have
been getting scads of kernel panics. Scores. Dozens. Sometimes I get
the dimmed screen with instructions to turn off. Sometimes it just
freezes. Sometimes it prints ASCII backtrace in the upper left corner

Transferring analog content to DVD (Canopus ADVC-55)02 Jul 2006 13:20 GMT20
I have a bunch of old tapes that I'd like to transfer to DVD.
To tell the truth, I've already done so using my DVD recorder, but for
some reason whenever the tape is "broken" (logically speaking, not
physically), ie. when there is a break in the video, the recorder goes
Quote marks and Question marks02 Jul 2006 11:35 GMT54
When I send e-mail file messages written in AppleWorks or Word -- they
leave looking great. However, any quotation marks show up at the
receiving end as question marks. If I include myself in the mailing --
the messages comes back to me with question marks instead of quotation
