Farewell 'Say Cheese'?06 Jul 2006 15:44 GMT7
Alas, my favourite Widget, Say Cheese, has gone belly up. Each morning I
could cruise through such comic genius as Mother Goose & Grimm, Over the
Hedge, Adam at Home, and more, lots more.
This morning the widget was empty and an attempt to download a fresh

Font management06 Jul 2006 07:26 GMT55
I have Tiger.  I have more than 400 fonts, which makes it hard to format
a document.
I ran Monolingual to get rid of non-English fonts.  Somehow I still have
Oriental and Arabic fonts.
Why does my pointer icon always freeze-up in OS 9?06 Jul 2006 07:13 GMT2
I first experienced this problem about a year ago but have ignored it
until now. Mainly because I never use OS 9 any longer and have no reason
to boot it. Anyway, whenever I boot up in OS 9 (9.2.2), the pointer icon
always freezes-up after a few seconds. This makes it so I can't ...

Using email app bundled with iMAC G5 OS 10.4.6 (Mail version 2.0.7)

frequent user (incoming).  For that user all header sizes fine but body
of email message is always several sizes too small.

I have a Matlab license server running Panther (10.3).

Will Leopard include an iLife upgrade?06 Jul 2006 03:20 GMT10
I know that iLife comes bundled with new Macs.  Does it also come
bundled with operating system upgrades, or, if I purchase Leopard when
it comes out, would I still have to purchase an upgrade for iLife?
Thanks.

I just allowed Software Update to update Tiger from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 on
my iMac G5 [20" 2.1 GHz (iSight)].  All went smoothly except for one
thing: all of the Text documents I have created in Classic by BBEdit
Lite 3.5.1 have had their Kind changed from "BBEdit Lite 3.5.1
Firewire to USB adapter06 Jul 2006 00:05 GMT4
The USB 2.0 PCI card on my G4 just died. Before I just buy another PCI
card I was wondering if there is a Firewire to USB adapter available.
When I searched the internet I found lots of items for adapting a
computer USB port to connect to a Firewire accessory (like a movie

Formatting a hard disk05 Jul 2006 19:32 GMT6
Hi all, the hard disks we buy off the shelf usually have FAT32 default
format. In what cases (if any) is it advisable to format them to
extended (journaled format)? How does one actually format a disk under
OS X 10.4.7?
Sudden, severe disk problems05 Jul 2006 16:27 GMT11
I have a three or four year old G4 900 that suddenly had a corrupt
hard-disk last week, so I went through the stages of rescuing the data
and trying to save the disk. Now, suddenly, the restored disk
(re-installed) OS has come down with rampant HDD corruptions again
