| G4 -> G5: Change hard disk | 20 Jun 2006 19:19 GMT | 1 |
I have two Apple PC's, a G4 and a G5. Now I like to change this two PC's, because the G4 is too slow. Both Apple's has OS X 10.3.9 and different other software installed. Can I only change the hard disk of this two PC's? Or do I have to install the whole PC?

| Vertical Mac Mini? | 20 Jun 2006 18:24 GMT | 2 |
I'm wondering if it might help the fan to have it point up? Heat does rise after all. Has anyone tried it? My Mini has no top, plastic housing, notebook hard drive or optical drive. So its all open. But I was wondering if the fan would work a little better.

| iTunes and strange CD problem. | 20 Jun 2006 18:21 GMT | 3 |
I've got two drives on this computer, one's a DVD/CD reader. I think it's a Lite-on. The other is a CD burniing drive of the same company. Anyway, was just playing CDs through iTunes and I put a rather dirty copy of a Doors cd in the first drive, figuring it wouldn't play right.

| Full messages? | 19 Jun 2006 23:47 GMT | 3 |
Greetings all, new to the group. Am I assuming correctly in that, giving this group's high rate of activity, that it's not possible to receive full copies of all messages sent to/from the list? It has to be used completely from the web? Thanks.

Just got a G3 powermac and don't know much about them. It has no OS on it so I need to download one or buy one from Ebay or somewhere. What would be the best OS to put onto it? I head 10.2.8 would go on it but would this give me any benefits over earlier versions?

| Dragging text to create a file? | 19 Jun 2006 20:57 GMT | 3 |
I thought that there was a way to drag text off of a document or web page and drop it on a finder window to create a file. Something is created by the finder, but it is not the kind of file I was anticipating.

I've been using an external 200GB Firewire drive for a few months. Today it showed up on my desktop with a generic icon, and all the icons inside were generic. I ran Disk Utility ("no problems") and Disk Warrior ("could not fix") so I backed up the data and reformatted the
