is it posiible to install several system versions on one mac? for instance a mac os 8.6 install and a mac os 7.6 on one machine? And then somehow choosing at startup (or before a restart) which will be loaded?

OK, this may be a dumb question, but: I've been using DVDs for backups for the stuff on my 500 MHz Mac G4, but wishing I could also write to CDs. While digging around in my System Profiler I noticed something in the Extensions folders just below CD

...sometime during the my upgrades from 10.3.6 to 10.3.9. It's a basic Logitech with two buttons and a scroll wheel. It works fine on my other computers and I'm missing the scroll wheel functionality on my Mac. What should I be checking?

I remember reading somewhere that the regular maintenance scripts will be run under Tiger even if the Mac is turned off for the night, thereby eliminating the need for utilities such as Macaroni. Or am I just imagining that?

I have my first Mac and am trying to figure out how to turn off the sound effect that accompanies the booting of the computer. I want to keep the other sounds, but that one is a problem when I'm booting in a quiet public place. The Mac is a MacBook. Thanks for any info offered ...

Apple Mail (2.0.7), preinstalled on my iMac (OS 10.4.6), goes along dutifully downloading my mail, except for periods of time that it insists on my entering the password. I do so, checking the box, "Remember the password" and it will give me my mail, then ask for it

My iMac G3 DV+ OS 10.4.6 has begun refusing all blank CDs. It accepts any previously burned disk and reads them perfectly... My external CD burner continues to work normally. Thanks in advance for your help.
