Oversensitive UPS ??24 Jun 2006 14:04 GMT10
I have a UPS  (battery back-up / surge protector) from APC
model Back-UPS  RS 800.  It's less than a year old, battery at 100%
For the past month it has been tripping semi-frequently. It click-clicks
for a second. It seems to me like it is sensing a slight dip in the voltage

Slow writing to USB pen drives formatted as FAT24 Jun 2006 06:57 GMT2
I am currently switching to a third-party USB pen drive as my father is
going to use my iPod shuffle (since when I got my iPod mini I have been
using it like a pen drive, basically).
I bought a 1-gigabyte pen by a strange brand - Dikom - and it was VERY
New Mac user24 Jun 2006 04:20 GMT18
My aging mid-90s toshiba portege laptop finally died so I decided it
was time to take the leap and buy an iBook. I found a v cheap G3
800Mhz on ebay which i figured would be more than enough since I had
no real speed complaints from the P3 500Mhz I had just come from.
Replacing Combo Drive with Superdrive24 Jun 2006 03:35 GMT4
I replaced the Combo drive on my IMac G4 with a Pioneer DVR-110D
"Superdrive." It works fine with the Finder and I can burn DVDs from
iPhoto, but when I try to write to a DVD as a multisession DVD using
Disk Utility, Disk Utility only recognizes the drive as read-only.
Booting from SuperDuper! image23 Jun 2006 23:51 GMT6
Every few days, I do a SuperDooper! image onto a disk image on a FireWire
external disk.  I just tried to boot from it, just to be sure I could.  I
couldn't.  System preferences didn't give me that option.  What should I be
doing?
Burn Folder23 Jun 2006 23:12 GMT7
I have a new iMac with the dual core Pentium.  I set up a New Burn Folder
and drag my home directory to the new folder.  I pop in a 4.7GB DVD-R and
pick the Burn button.
After about 15 minutes the "blue progress bar" is about 75% finished when
G4-400 AGP OSX upgrade crash23 Jun 2006 21:19 GMT2
I haven't used my old G4 much, but have been thinking about switching
from Linux to Mac, so I borrowed a friends OSX DVD's to try it out.
Yup, it can crash! Dunno if it's because the OSX is for a G4 PowerBook.
Tomorrow I'll try a fresh install from scratch.

Non-CUPS Printer Drivers on OS X23 Jun 2006 12:21 GMT4
Summary of problem:
I purchased a Cannon MP150 because it said it supported Mac OSX.  The
driver installation works fine, but I realize it's not a GIMP/CUPS
printer module, rather it's proprietary.  So . . . here's my question:
