mpg 2 how to view28 Jun 2006 20:35 GMT6
Hello NG,
I have a PC which I use as server. This machine is always running and
therefor I use it as TV (DVB-T) recorder. I want to see the recorded
videos on my PowerBook. The captured movies are saved as mpg 2 but it
Laserwriter and Os 9.2.228 Jun 2006 20:15 GMT11
I recently moved my working Laserwriter NT II from Powerbook 145 to Powermac
6500 With Os 9.2.2 installed. To my surprise the printer was not recognised,
even after a new installation. The PPD file ok and in the right place.
Has Apple dropped support for this printer or is there ...
Upgrading G4 AGP 400 to dual 45028 Jun 2006 19:43 GMT7
Maybe this is not the right forum for an upgrade question, but since
there's quite a lot of traffic and other HW issues, I'll try here.
If need be, pls direct me to proper Mac forums. Xlr8yourmac doesn't
accept new subscriptions ATM, and I haven't found the right other ones.
MPEG2 and QT28 Jun 2006 19:29 GMT8
Does  ANYBODIE'S version of mepeg2 to QTwork correctly? ALL of the
Codecs used by APPLE give "picture" artifacts like "streaking" and loss
of resolution. Please, don't  give me conversion loss as a reason- not
so.
idiot wireless q's28 Jun 2006 19:20 GMT2
I have a G5 iMac, with no Airport card, connected to cable modem. I want
to add a machine and network to this G5. I like buying Apple
refurbished, and most of their current deals include Airport cards. I'd
probably buy another iMac or possibly a mini.
lite weight browser28 Jun 2006 18:50 GMT3
Any opinions on which is browser will take up the fewest resources on my
867MHz, 640MB Powerbook. I find Safari seems to grab lots of memory and
CPU, even when it isn't doing anything. Firefox also seems to like lots
of memory. So far, I find that  Shiira takes up the least ...
Unknown process "bfobserver"28 Jun 2006 09:27 GMT3
Since I installed the latest developer tools from apple
(xcode_2.3_8m1780_oz693620813.dmg) I found a new process in the
activity monitor which I don´t know: it is called "bfobserver" and runs
as root. It starts a subprocess "python" (the python interpreter). Does
Hard Drive Problems?28 Jun 2006 03:17 GMT13
A while ago, I asked about what it means when the Power On on the
monitor on my G4 starts to blink, and the illumination of the monitor
fades.
I was told that it means there is a problem with the HD with the OS on
FIREWALL- worth the effort ?28 Jun 2006 01:59 GMT37
I often wonder if trying to prevent access through internet actually
works. We hear of so called secure commercial sites being "busted", so
why should we think that any firewall we use might is useful ?
Personally, I only use internet intermitently and "pull the plug out"
Turn off Confirmation28 Jun 2006 01:05 GMT1
I know this must have asked and answered a hundred times, but I'll be
darned if I can find any answers.  I guess I'm not searching on the
right strings/words.
Is there some way to turn off Mail.app confirmation questions when I
Startup Wireless at Login28 Jun 2006 00:56 GMT4
I am sure there is a simple solution to this, but I cant find it.
I want my wireless connection to automatically start when I log in.
Right now I have to manually turn it on when I log in and this prevents
some of my startup applications from running.  How do I solve this?
Viewing Pictures as Thumbnails27 Jun 2006 19:57 GMT2
I have just converted to Mac after years of frustration with my PC.
One things I wish I could do, however, that I could do in the PC but
haven't figured out in the Mac is how to view pictures in my iPhoto
Library as small thumbnails instead of just files with names on them.
Weird MAC Memory Problem27 Jun 2006 17:44 GMT8
I am having a strange problem with using 3rd party with my G4 733.  I
purchased to 512 pc133 SDRAM modules for the Mac but I get 3 beeps at
POST.
HOWEVER - when I put the old module back in it boots up and the system
Will Virtual PC 7 Mess Up My MAC?27 Jun 2006 16:04 GMT2
I'm a bit afraid of this software. Is there a chance it can mess up my
MAC system and machine, or does it not make any changes to the system
files? I also downloaded a PC program and when unstuffed it just had a
data.cab, and setup.exe file. Is this correct? How does one install PC
Recording 'streaming'??27 Jun 2006 14:52 GMT34
Is there a way to copy something which is in streaming format? Like,
from Safari to iTunes, then burn a CD?
I'm so new to all this I don't know the right terminology or technical
info - please forgive the naivete...
