How do I delete Startup Items?01 Jun 2006 19:28 GMT6
This has been driving me nuts for months. Under both Panther and now
Tiger, I've been experiencing crashes and freezes several times a day.
I think it might be related somehow to using an ergonomic Microsoft
Natural Keyboard Elite, at least that is one theory, since I was using
Repairing permissions options?01 Jun 2006 18:11 GMT53
This seems to be an ongoing chore in OS X.  So be it.  Small price to
pay.  Are there any advantages (besides convenience) in repairing
permissions while OS X is running or is it always better to do it from
the DVD before OS X boots up?

Any licensing advantages to OS X Server?01 Jun 2006 16:29 GMT1
Essentially my question is this: Is there anything in the license for
OS X "Client" that would prevent me from using it as the OS for a web &
database server?  I've searched through the group and found this
thread:
How can I customize my find window (cmd-F)?01 Jun 2006 16:10 GMT1
When I do a file search with cmd-F, the window opens up with criteria "Kind"
and "Last Opened". I would like it to open with a different set of criteria.
In particular, my preference would be for "Name" heading the list.
How can I get that window to open up that way? If I were to ...
why this simple bash script doesn't run on my G5 OS X Tiger?01 Jun 2006 15:12 GMT3
Hi, All,
This is my first try to use shell scripts on Mac. And I can't figure out
why this simple script doesn't run.

Well, it's done01 Jun 2006 14:30 GMT4
I've been building or re-building a G4 Quicksilver DP800 and finally
installed Tiger on it last night. I'd almost call this a "FrankenMac"
since it has parts bought used from sereral sources.
Anyhow, once Tiger installed, I did some of the configuring needed, but
Emergency =?windows-1252?Q?=97_substitute_power_adaptor_?= =?windows-1252?Q?for_a_Wallstreet_and_1400=2E?=01 Jun 2006 14:27 GMT1
Hi, I hope someone can advise me and soon. I have two Powerbooks, a
Wallstreet and a 1400, and both were able to use each others power
adaptor (as well as that belonging to a Clamshell, I'm told). The
Wallstreet adaptor died on me last year, so I continued using the 1400
installer problem01 Jun 2006 13:55 GMT2
I tried installing a new software program and got the cryptic message,
"The installer package A4TECHMACXQES" cannot be opened. A package flag
file was not found."
This sounds ominous and any advive much appreciated.
OSX + Ubuntu, Boot options is gone...01 Jun 2006 05:57 GMT1
I have a PowerBook G4 and installed OS X Tiger and Ubuntu 6.06 on it.
And Ubuntu set up a boot manager and it worked fine.
Yesterday, I booted  it up into Tiger and installed some applications
like X11, XCode, and etc.
Can the G4 Cube read MiniDVD discs, anyone knows?01 Jun 2006 05:53 GMT2
The G4 Cube manual doesn't warn against putting my camera's MiniDVD in
the vertical disc slot, but it could be easily because MiniDVD's
weren't widely used yet when the docs were written...
Now, I could dupe my MiniDVD to a normal DVD on either of my G5s with
Podcast - stupid questions01 Jun 2006 02:26 GMT2
I've never used podcasting or RSS feeds.  Before I go out and spend $300 on
the video iPod, I thought I might ask some questions.
What's available for a geek?  I see Dr. Dobbs offers regular audio casts.
That looks promising.  Are the casts any good tho?  What about sysadmin,
