| problem writing data dvds | 29 Jun 2006 22:10 GMT | 1 |
In order to upgrade my Fedora Linux system I downloaded the iso image and wrote it to a dvd on my wife's Mac Mini, using disk utility. When I went to do the upgrade, the media test reported the dvd as being bad.

| Welcome, Ernie Lee! | 29 Jun 2006 20:40 GMT | 14 |
I guess Mr. Lee is going to be a regular here, huh? He is, of course, most welcome, and being here is his privilege and all that. I just hope he doesn't start morphing his name &c. to defeat filters. Davoud

| spotlight and super duper... conflict? | 29 Jun 2006 19:34 GMT | 3 |
So... my OS X machine got really pissed off the other night when there were roughly 8 copies of the boot drive mounted all at once. Seems that Super Duper is the backup method of choice. But spotlight freaks out with all those copies of the boot drive mounted.

| Publishing Iweb without .Mac | 29 Jun 2006 16:18 GMT | 1 |
Can anyone tell me in detail how I can go about publishing a page from my Iweb to the Internet without a .Mac subscription (I don't want to pay that big hunk of change every year). I am not very savvy in the area of web publishing, so the more detailed the better.

| Date Time Stamp? | 29 Jun 2006 15:32 GMT | 10 |
I'm a recent switcher from Win to MacIntel and haven't used a Mac since system 6 (Powerbook 165, which I still have along with the MacSE and my first real computer Apple //e). Work and funds pulled me away from the Mac (those educational discounts really helped)

I have a copy of Apple Hardware Test 2.2.4 that came with my G5 duo's extended applecare. Does anyone know, is this software backwards compatible? I have an old G4 900 that's suddenly come up gimpy -- can I use the G5's test disk to test the old G4?

| Why doesn't the space bar always go down a screen on a web page? | 29 Jun 2006 04:50 GMT | 6 |
This question might win a prize for being the most trivial of the week, but it's been annoying me for a while, and I thought some of you clever people would probably have an answer: Hitting the space bar to scroll down one screen on a web page is a handy

| Mac Security: Weekly Summary 2006-06-15 | 29 Jun 2006 03:02 GMT | 8 |
It has been yet another no-malware week for Mac OS X. No doom in sight. The FUD mongerers must be very disappointed. The big news this week is about Windows security vulnerabilities. Microsoft posted 12 security bulletins. One is an extremely critical

| Mac Security: Weekly Summary 2006-06-22 | 29 Jun 2006 02:25 GMT | 3 |
It's another week for Mac users to sit back and relax. Apple have not reported any new vulnerabilities, there are still no Mac OS X malware 'in the wild', and all the Mac Security FUD mongers have probably chewed their nails to the nub by now out of frustration that
