Searching an alias folder15 Jun 2006 19:05 GMT8
I've discovered some weird OS X behavior (10.4.6 to be exact, though I
expect it's more general). If I have an alias of a folder and use
CMND-F to search it, the search does NOT provide the same results as
searching the original folder itself. Rather, it returns results that
Sherlock Movie listings15 Jun 2006 15:52 GMT8
I have been using Sherlock for local movie theatre listings for alot of
years now. However, in the interest of getting the movie trailor feature
to work, I deleted all cookies. Now, sherlock says it can not find any
movies in my area code, or any other for that matter. What is ...

Second monitor ... use ADC or 2nd vid card?15 Jun 2006 02:57 GMT2
I have a digital LCD monitor connected to the DVI port of my G5's
GeForce FX 5200 video card. (Single-cpu 1.8G model G5).
If I want to connect a second digital monitor, I'd have to use an
ADC-DVI adapter to connect to the ADC port on the 5200.
Very worrying problem with Macbook Pro...15 Jun 2006 00:51 GMT8
In the last couple of days (not sure I know exactly when it
started unfortunately) my MBP suddenly has some mystery code
running the CPU loads very high, and heating the box up like a
pancake griddle.  It will literally get almost painful to touch
black outline boxes... make them stop14 Jun 2006 20:55 GMT4
I noticed yesterday, after the cat walked on the keyboard, that applications
have black outline boxes surrounding the hightlighted or active option button.
For example, it I click on an icon on the Desktop, I see black box around the
icon.  If I fired up, for example, Safari there ...
MBP screen has *snow* after sleep14 Jun 2006 17:27 GMT2
I sent my MacBook Pro in for a logic board replacement and when I got
it back I noticed that when I let it sleep for five minutes or longer
the screen would turn to what looked like "white noise" after wakeup.
The "static" will not leave without a forced powerdown and reboot, and
odd Finder problem14 Jun 2006 16:53 GMT1
I am trying to copy the Users folder of a laptop connected in Firewire
target mode to a mounted DVD image on a desktop machine.
Super Get Info reveals the folder to be copied contains:
3.4 GB on disk (3,626,904,239 bytes) for 5442 files and 889 folders

Importing Album names into iTunes?14 Jun 2006 14:36 GMT1

Covers and import them directly into itunes e.g. CoverScout.
Is there any programme which will look the songs in my iTunes library
and directly import album names into it.

Curious Change in Macs14 Jun 2006 05:36 GMT14
I have two Macs I use frequently. Both are dual bootable and do both the
OX and 9.2.2.
The Blue G3 tower has an on/off button on the keyboard. The keyboard is
USB. So that means the keyboard is hot even though the computer is not
Audio Problems?13 Jun 2006 23:19 GMT1
I can play audio just fine from inside iTunes.  But I have lost the
ability to play audio from inside the QuickTime player, or from
streaming audio sources on the web from inside Safari.  All the "Sound"
and "QuickTime" system preferences seem ok.   I am on a G5 flat-panel
[9.2.2] Bonehead user restores modem sound13 Jun 2006 21:19 GMT2
For the longest time, I haven't been hearing my G4's modem
dialing and connecting to the 'net, and I couldn't figure out why.
As this had no negative impact on anything, I dismissed the quirk
and enjoyed the silence...until yesterday.
